The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

"Is basically like connecting the fans to the psu directly and the dials allow you to slow them down from running full speed?" - Yes. (except pwm fans should not be wired in just to a power supply.)

If you go with that case, the front fan you can set to blow at the end of the GPU which is not as good as blowing from the top but as long as you don't have too many 3.5 inch drives in the way it should help cool the GPU down. I'm a fan of cases with the headroom and fittings on the side panel for a large fan (the bigger, the slower, the quieter).

You could try your splitter first, and then add a controller if you think its needed after testing without

Big Sur Public Beta came out today and for some reason Apple cut off the 14,2 Late 2013 iMac from the supported desktop list. So to either download or install Big Sur it's best to now use iMac 15,1 on your Dell OptiMac. Here's a chart of all the Macs Apple makes that are still supported. Hard to understand why the 2013 MBA, MBP and 2013 MP can all qualify to run Big Sur but the 2013 iMac can't. Maybe they want all the older iMac users (2013 and older) to upgrade to the just released 27" 5K iMac which will make Big Sur look and run much better than the clunky and slow iMacs with mechanical hard drives. Everyone knows that Catalina is painfully slow on an APFS formatted mechanical drive.

I don't suggest upgrading your current Mojave or Catalina install, rather try Big Sur out with iMac 15,1 on a spare drive. It's much too early in the beta stage to consider an upgrade to it yet.

Screen Shot 12.jpg

It looks as though the 2nd Gen Kepler 700 series graphics cards like the GT 710 and 730 are still supported. I'm pretty sure that the HD4600 graphics will still work with acceleration. The ig-platform ID we use is for HD5200 Iris Pro graphics which are still supported. Apple drew the line at HD5000 integrated Intel graphics or better for Big Sur.

I've started a new thread where you can post in relation to using Open Core and Big Sur Public Beta on your OptiMac. I am not planning on upgrading or even experimenting with Big Sur till it's out of beta later this year. So please don't expect help from me with bugs in Big Sur or Open Core trouble shooting. It's primarily to keep this thread from getting taken off topic to OC and Big Sur problems. Thanks !

@trs96 ,I have installed Catalina on my 9020 SFF with the integrated HD4600, everything works fine.
Only one thing, the screen flash like the picture I attached during the boot.
Is it possible to solve the issue?
Thank you.

Check the two strings in your config.plist that deal with screen resolutions and make sure thet are set to something sensible for your computer. (1920x1080 normally works ok, I have released at least one config with 1920x1600 shown) and set Console mode in Gui section to a low number or Min or Max - dont know which numbers work but I think 1,2,3,4 all work. Or In gui section remove screen res and Console mode settings and use clovers defaults

thanks for the many suggestions

sorry, meant that everything was working before i installed the pcie card today.

bought this cheap btstick (5,99 €) and it works out of the box.
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00LSGUBLI/?tag=tonymacx8603-21

with the pcie card i get very good wlan out of the box but no bt.

Airdrop works in combination with the wlan card and the btstick.

@nicksoph
have tried some thins that was recommended to me here.
unfortunately without success.
I think the user @FranzWerfel has the same problem.

@trs96 I have followed these instructions:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/the-new-beginners-guide-to-usb-port-configuration.286553/

and as a port discovery I've got this result:View attachment 480790

the port is already set to internal.
otherwise it is 2x 4 usb 3 port and 2x usb 2 port. so the result is correct.
do I have to do something about it now, or does the usb-port allocation fit?
thanks for the many suggestions

Franz can report that the latest version of BrcmPatchRam3 in combination with the BrcmBluetoothInjector.kext in version 2.5.4 at https://github.com/acidanthera/BrcmPatchRAM/releases did activate Bluetooth. (Before I did so, I launched Windows 10 via a USB 3 drive to ensure that it was still working there. This step is unnecessary.) As far as getting Continuity to work, that is next. The old CAT 2.0 shows my LMP to be 6, which is high enough for the BT to work. But flags it as a problem. That said, CAT might not be necessary, too. Since it's my wife's computer and she's traveling, I can't see if her iPhone and Dell are in Continuation mode. More later.

I should add that this worked with kexts in the Other folder. I am going to try L\E next. That works. Although CAT 2.0 indicates that Continuity is enabled, I can't Handoff anything yet. But I can air drop, install a BT mouse, and other things, I would imagine.

Although my iPhone wouldn't handoff, my iPad did. So, this confirms that the card I purchased finally works in my OptiHack 9020.

THis is my 7020 setup working well with NVMe.
I have a problem with USB 3. Only one in the front panel works, the other one not (in red circle). The 2 USB 3 ports on the back don't work as well.
I have installed the custom SSDts as instructed in the main post to the clover patched folder. and usbinjectall kext to clover kexts others.
Any ideas?

I seem to be having the same problem but with a 9020 SFF model. Only the top SS USB3.0 on the front works out of the 4 SS USB3.0 ports on the machine. All the USB 2.0 ports seem to work fine. Any USB device plugged into any of the 3 non-working ports does not show up in System Information under the USB heading.

I'm not finding anything missing wrt to SSDT or kexts...

I'll boot a Linux live USB shortly to check if the ports work there but I suspect this is a 'software' issue. Any suggestions for what to do if these ports work under Linux (or Windows)?

Check the System Parameters, Inject Kexts settings and the placement of USBInjectAll.kext, cant remember the details but had a similar issue. It never sat well that the final build includes USBInjecAll kext - I suspect USBInjectAll.kext might be dropped entirely -

I went with with a different method -

Remove SSDT-USB from /Clover/ACPI/patched (not sure of paths
Remove USBInjectAll.kext from
/Clover/Kext/other and
/Library/Extensions

Put attached USBPorts.kext into
/Clover/Kext/other

USBports kext was made with Hackintool - which also produce DSDT's which this method uses and are the right way to go (rather than kexts) but its an easy method to see if your ports really work.

I have an Optiplex 9020 USFF running the latest version of Catalina. If I attempt to invoke sleep via the Apple menu, the computer attempts to power off, but then the power switch lights up orange, the screen comes back on briefly, and then it reboots. The panic report indicates panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff8004414e67): "AppleHDAHDMI_DPDriver::setPowerState(0xffffff801d52b500 : 0xffffff7f86a6b6f8, 0 -> 1) timed out after 10189 ms"@/AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-6153.141.1/iokit/Kernel/IOServicePM.cpp:5296 . . . etc. But this happens even with sleep blocked. I don't think this has anything to do with the AppleALC problem reported in other threads. This seems to be a specific Optiplex-Catalina issue.

I have tried to remove AppleALC.kext and see if that makes a difference.

Is sleep impossible for these hacks?

(On a good note, I finally got my internal BT to work yesterday with some spare time and the latest BrcmPatchRAM3.kext.)
