Asus X299 - Support

Apologies for looking for the "easy button"! At some point I'll be building a 3rd one of these machines (hopefully with a 10990xe!). I haven't messed with the 2 that I have much in 2 years so I'm a little rusty. The two that I have are both in use regularly (so far still going even with the virus...) so I'm hoping not to disrupt everything.

Anybody here has found a new BT 5.0 / WiFi Card of some sort? maybe there's a new intel chip on newer Macs?

I've been looking for those for a while now, the only thing I found is couple of BT5 usb dongles that are hit and miss and 0 on the WiFi front.

I found this.

Ok to use that one? And I can just place in S/L/E replacing the one from the original 10.13 guide? I really appreciate the help.

I think you're skipping a lot of steps. The X299 guides here are all vanilla and we are avoiding any patching to the system directories or files.

Avoid S/L/E all together and re-read that guide and some of the other comments in this thread.

Kexts should live inside your EFI partition for on-the-fly loading.

And also yes those kexts are fine for USB for the X299 Prime Deluxe

Still haven't seen any so far. The new Mac Pro does use some new Broadcom WIFI/BT chip from looking at the Mac Pro IOReg file, but I don't think these modules are available to the public (yet?). I've been pretty happy with BCM94360CS2, which is BT 4.2 though. But it's definitely using a much older chipset, which I am not sure when future versions of macOS will drop support for.

Gotcha, I did try putting it in the EFI folder, and it's still not behaving (works, but at slower speeds and some midi stuff having issues). I reread the guide, and I realize I set this up almost 2 years ago and a lot has changed.

Seeing as how I have a running system (2 actually), do you think it's a reasonable plan to download KGP's newest EFI for 10.13 SU, replace my old one with that, and move through the guide from there?

One question on that, I have a Titan Ridge card on hand, as well as TBEX3, reading up it seems that hotplug can work for either, but KGP reports that the Titan Ridge gives a blank screen on sleep/wake...

Is there any combo of card or header unplugged that works with both hotplug and sleep wake? I don't need windows support at all. I use TB for focusrite Red 8Pre interfaces (and TB hubs with USB if I can get it working)

Thanks so much for your help.

ok @izo1 ! Did you figured out which of the three antennas in our card (I bought same as yours, the 1750mb/s bt 4.2 one) is for Bluetooth? I bought 3 hi gain antennas.

I believe the Titan ridge card is the most preferred card out and there have been a lot of exciting discoveries over in CaseySJ’s thread that make the TB card perform more native (Thunderbolt bus and local node). May be something worth looking into.

@izo, I tried your OC EFI from the link you provided, but Thunderbolt doesn't work...please can you put an updated version?

I think you're better off starting from scratch with Catalina (it's the future anyway) and see if you can move to OpenCore (It's also the future) but a little more advanced than Clover and not many guides except some prebuilt EFIs we posted here.

Regarding the Titan Ridge card, even though I have one, I don't use it often so I can't help on that end, I hope someone else will.

I went through 3 BT/WIFI cards and l landed on the BCM943602CS, using the stock antennas and it seems to have been working well for many months now with no interference to the connections.

I will post it soon after updating to the latest OC release. What doesn't work with TB?
