[Guide] HP Elite 8300 & 6300 Pro (all form factors) using Clover UEFI hotpatch

hello
is it normal that the audio icon is disabled if I select dvi or hdmi output?
The audio, however, is played regularly, only I don't have the adjustment.
normal as per mac design

Okay, so how does the adjustment work?
from the monitor?

Yes it is normal that, if you select HDMI output, you have to control
volume from the monitor or TV set. A few browsers give you volume
control, but in general, the system does not control volume in that mode.

Later discovery:

On 10.15.4 beta, with my RX 570 machine and MacMini6,1 SMBIOS,
HEVC was recovered by installing HEVCenabler.kext from post #3 here
for the Ellesmere accelerator:

and invoking the two commands from terminal:

defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA gvaForceAMDHEVCDecode -boolean yes
defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA gvaForceAMDKE -boolean yes

On 10.15.4 beta, with my RX 560 machine and ImacPro1,1 SMBIOS,
HEVC was recovered by installing dummy152.kext for the Baffin accelerator.
@LisaAlterEgo So which SMBOIS do you find works best for your system? Would you recommend macmini6,1 or imacpro1,1?

I don't have a definite answer. Power management seems a little more effective with MacMini6,1,
and some say the Ivy Bridge 8300 system is closer to the Mini, so it will be more stable in the long
run. With iMacPro1,1, you have to concoct your own power management files based on the MacMini or
iMac13,2 and CPUFriend, and its unclear how well they are performing.

With iMacPro1,1 however, it is easier to get HEVC, and it seems more oriented to those who defeat
IGPU in BIOS and rely solely on an AMD GPU. I have a mix of machines, some with i5-3470, i5-3570,
and i5-3570K, and a mix of GPUs, including Nvidia 730, Intel HD 4000, RX 560, and RX 570. On the
system with a standalone i5-3570K with HD 4000 graphics, I see no reason to switch from MacMini6,1.
With Nvidia and i5-3470, it seems closest to iMac13,2. I'm testing MacMini6,1 and iMacPro1,1 with the
AMD GPU machines.

It also seems to depend on what you do with your machines. For people who do more video transcoding,
the iMacPro1,1 seems preferred, but I don't use FCPX or DaVinci so its not really an issue for me. I do
like my limited experience with AppleTV.

I have an i7-3770 system with a RX580. I don’t mind turning off the HD4000. My main concerns are stability and HW HEVC acceleration. I’m not a pro or Final Cut user. I just want to be able to watch my iPhone camera videos without pegging my CPU, LOL (they’re all stored as HEVC). I guess I also want to be able to watch Netflix and Amazon Video in Safari, as well. I can do the dance of creating my own power profiles or whatever is necessary for the imacpro1,1 SMBIOS. But if I can achieve what I want with macmini6,1 or imac13,2, then that’s fine as well. And all this while driving 3 4K monitors ;)

Is there any HEVC sample file that will not play?
"Preview" is displayed for sample files with the extension .heic.
Other HEVC sample files are converted to VLC (.mkv) and played on VLC.

They both have full support in Catalina. The AMD card will have support for longer into the future if that is a concern. I believe the NVS 510 came out in about 2013 and the RX560 about 2017.

Looks like the 510 made it's debut in late 2012. It's GK107 based.

The rx 560 require 400 watts psu. The psu of hp8300cmt is 320 watt.
Can i fit the rx 570? Because the price of rx 560 with external power is similar of the price of rx 570

400W is just an estimate for PSU wattage. The RX560s never come anywhere close that much power draw. Some people run the RX560 LP on the 240W SFF HP PSU and have no problems with it.
