[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I believe it does. I will double check and get back to you. I have not noticed any issues with sleep.
Jules
I stumbled across the reason for the problem: System Preferences>Energy Saver (see attached)
Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when display is off was checked. This was not a problem before the ThunderBay4. Once I unchecked it the system went to sleep automatically. Happy camper.

Question- for those with the z390 Designare MOBO. Started putting everything together to test system what’s the normal operation of these LED’s on the MOBO after putting everything together and hitting the power switch computer powers on fans and cooler turn on then shuts off powers back on.
Cpu led blinks once
Dram blinks once- stays on
I can boot into bios and everything looks like it’s visible CPU and temps seem fine ram recognized went thru and tried diff configs of ram in sockets seemed fine all working and visible. And lights seem to turn off when I enter bios.

can someone tell me what their boards under normal operation do or look like?

You can see in the second photo while I’m in bios no lights are on. I just want to make sure it’s normal operation before I start building in the case.

Screen does stay black. DisplayPort. Monitor. I think I'll restore and try again, this time updating Clover along with everything else. Thanks for your help @CaseySJ. I'll report back.
OK, so I restored, updated clover/kexts...and voila! Thanks for all your help @CaseySJ

Edit: Not so fast. It appears my wifi no longer works. Tried connecting to 5ghz and 2.4, as well as my phone's hotspot, no joy. After a minute or so, it just reprompts for password and doesn't connect. Forgot network, tried creating a new network location. The wifi worked fine under Mojave. Anyone else having issue with Fenvi T919 under Catalina? Bluetooth seems to be working fine, btw.

The board will turn on and then off, it may do this up to 3 times, as it is running tests and trainings. Once this happens, the board should turn on normal as long as the power is kept on to the power supply/board. If you unplug power or turn off breaker on power supply for a while, the board may run the same procedure again when you boot it.

Regarding lights, if you are talking about lights on the board itself, I can't remember if it is this board exactly, but think this board has the lights that will turn on and blink with certain patterns (similar to beep codes) if there is an issue. Otherwise they will turn on but then off if everything is fine; so if that's what you are experiencing, this is normal. If all seems fine in BIOS, all devices showing, memory showing at proper voltage and size/speed (rmember to check XMP profiles), then you should be OK. If there is something wrong with the components or board itself, the board would usually not POST, meaning you probably wouldn't even be able to get into BIOS.

BTW, if you don't have a bootable device attached to the board (internal or external drives), the board will automatically launch BIOS or ask you to insert a bootable device; this is also normal.

A few tips:
once you build the machine, if you are using 2 RAM sticks only, use the slot closest to CPU, then skip one, then place the second stick on the third slot. This will get your RAM showing up correctly (bank 0 dimm 0 etc) in clover/system info/memory.
Also, once you have set the BIOS and selected a memory profile (XMP), I'd suggest downloading memtest86 and running it; if there is anything wrong with your RAM, it should be able to point it out.

Finally, if you want to double check that board and components are booting fine, if you have a CMOS speaker lying around, plug it in and make sure that you are just getting a single short beep at boot :)

YES sleep works great if chrome is not running.. but often times even when chrome is not running and no apps are running after about a hour and half into sleep it occasionally wakes up with no usbs plugged in and temporarily turns on then enters back to sleep mode and then wakes up and will sometimes have a hard freeze or black screen the so the answer is sleep can last longer without chrome running but after periods of time it will have a hard freeze from wake or wake by self with a hard freeze.. i really don't prefer to leave the computer running 24/7 like others in this forum who suffer the same problem.. 1. leaving computer on 24/7 will cut the components life in half or burn them out faster.. 2. electric bill at end of month will increase..

Have you disabled power nap? This is the feature that usually wakes up the mac every hour or so and let's it check for Emails etc. I know some people have issues with leaving this enabled, because their hacks would wake and crash or restart while sleeping. Personally I haven't had any issues with it on any of my hacks, and I've left them in sleep (during testing) for over a day, without and with power nap, and they've always woke fine. I think this setting is also called wake for internet (ethernet?) access, so check that as well if available. Sorry, but I'm not in front of my hack right now to verify the exact terms/screens. But I know this is one of those issues that comes up time after time, especially in the laptop threads, and disabling the feature is the only workaround for some...

  • If you turn off WiFi and use a wired Ethernet connection, does that work?
  • If both WiFi and wired Ethernet don't work, then it's possible that some firewall software might be the cause. For example, I use NetBarrier and VirusBarrier by Intego Software. After upgrading from Mojave to Catalina, it was necessary to re-permission those apps to access various system services. The app should walk you through the procedure.
  • If only WiFi is affected, try the following:
    • At the Clover Boot Menu press F1 for help and press the appropriate function key to Clear NVRAM.
    • Open System Preferences --> Network, select Wi-Fi on the left side and click the "-" icon to delete it from the list. Don't worry, it will come back automatically when you reboot.
    • Reboot and check WiFi.

It does appear that Chrome does bind to USBs. This is a touchy subject since web browsers these days do need access to read from USB to integrate with the web plugins such as a webcam to allow a website to grant access to reading the webcam device id and USB location. This is a tricky task to get around and to find a fix for. I'm stumped and baffled at this point. To bad for the binding bad for hacks. Any suggestions to unbind without destroying or killing the chrome browser or breaking it from running? This is diffidently the culprit here. @RehabMan was correct on the bug and thanks for the mentioning @djx8605 and @CaseySJ.
There is a Chrome extension called Disable WebUSB located here. Like all extensions, once installed it can be enabled and disabled at will. So if you don't need Chrome WebUSB, enable the extension. Otherwise simply disable the extension.

Hi,
I have a multiboot system (macOS Mojave / win10 / ubuntu18.04) on three separate SSDs based on the Gigabyte Z390 Designate motherboard and I have a problem with Ubuntu 18.04 shutdown: after turning off the system the fans and RGB LEDs remain on for a variable time between 2 minutes and even over an hour.
Has anyone had the same problem?
Some solutions found on the internet would suggest:
Enable ErP in Bios UEFI
Update the UEFI Bios to the latest version (F8)
Could they compromise the use of macOS Mojave on my system?
Thanks in advance for Your help
