pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Hey @pastrychef,

I recently upgraded to Catalina and been getting KPs after wake from sleep. They seem to be caused by some audio issue (I'm using AppleALC v1.4.2 and mostly mirrored your EFI/Clover settings).

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff80010290b7): "AppleHDAHDMI_DPDriver::setPowerState(0xffffff804d2b4400 : 0xffffff7f83f73730, 0 -> 1) timed out after 10165 ms"@/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-6153.11.26/iokit/Kernel/IOServicePM.cpp:5302 …

If I remove AppleALC, I don't get KPs, but have no audio. Since your Z370 MB has the same S1220A codec, did you have any problems with audio/sleep in Catalina?

Broken sleep is a huge pain (I'm sure you're well aware :D).

Many thanks.

Please post the entire text from the panic window.

From the bit you've posted, it looks like AppleHDAHDMI_DPDriver. That's HDMI/DisplayPort audio. The kext that's associated with that is WhateverGreen.

Do you put your kexts in /Library/Extensions/?

No, I have not had problems with sleep/wake. Everything has been running really smooth for me. Zero problems.

Yes, sleep/wake is also very important to me because I keep my system up 24/7.

Do you put your kexts in /Library/Extensions/?
No, they are injected via Clover.

Please post the entire text from the panic window.

Sure and thanks again.

I'm not sure what to make of it... Have you tried downgrading AppleALC and WhateverGreen to a slightly older release?

@pastrychef here is my problem. Actually, I mention this problem before but I didn't show you how it looks. A couple of minutes ago, while working on the Desktop, screen turns grey and blinking. Normally, it's just solid grey but this time also starts blinking. Can you look at the video I attached what do you think about it?

Yes I tried version 1.2.8 of AppleALC and although it fixes the kernel panic, I lose audio on wake.

It seems others are facing this issue as well:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/help-applealc-kernel-panic-after-catalina-update.284654/

In any case, I filed a bug report on Github and we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for taking a look.

Try using older version of AppleALC and install CodecCommander.

None of the kexts from acidanthera will be verified for Clover compatibility anymore so I'm not sure filing a bug report will help.

Are you using HDMI?

Are you using HDMI?
Yes, my display just has HDMI and DVI. I tried DVI, the same thing happened with DVI too. I also tried different cables 1.2, 1.3,(Original Apple HDMI cable) and 2.0 none of them helped.

This is my ioreg everything looks ok. But this problem never gone.

pastrychef....I'm having trouble getting power out my USB ports to charge my iPad. The iPad shows up but says "not charging". What's really weird is that I added SSDT-USBX.aml to my .../ACPI/patched/ last night. I was sure that it worked last night, and I was getting power. Today it doesn't. Maybe I'm losing my mind but I would like to get this fixed. I know you're no longer running my motherboard. Thanks in advance for any thoughts...
