The everything works Asus Z390-I Gaming * i7-8700K * SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 Build

Yes, as long as you do not powercycle it will remain as it is in-memory.
My screen issue was not related to nvram anyway...even after fixing so that nvram is persistent I get the same behavior.

I also tried changing resolution in MacOS and regardless of what output I select...I get the same black border around the desktop.

I think you wrote you have a DGPU: do you have the same behaviour with your DGPU ? (maybe a Framebuffer issue with your iGPU ?)
regarding your iGPU : did you try both HDMI and DisplayPort ?

Erase your nvram.plist file in your EFIs root directory, run Mac Optimizer, found exclusively on another hackintosh website, and reboot.
I erased the nvram.plist file, run Mac Optimizer and reseted the NVRAM from there. But the problem is still present.
I have to force shutdown holding the power button.

No, as my profile says I only have iGPU...I’m going to put a DGPU in there later...as soon as I have found a decent one.

If it was a framebuffer issue I would expect the graphics to not work properly at all. In this case it all works fine...except if I turn off the display for a while and return to the computer and turn on the display again.

It’s connected with a DP->MiniDP cable (computer->display) and currently I have no HDMI cable that I can try with.

Found an HDMI cable so I changed to that...then I turned off the monitor and left the computer alone for a while. When I came back, and turned on the monitor, I noticed that the computer restarted. That never happened with DP connection.

Another thing I have noticed now is that it seems that MacOS is shutting down, or doing something else fishy with, the USB-port(s). I have a Ducky One 2 Mini RGB keyboard connected that has all LEDs glowing...but sometimes only one row...or almost no LEDs are glowing and the keyboard is not working...pulling and reinserting the cable restores it again.

So there seems to be some minor issues to sort out...but overall it is working great. I'm slowly trying to understand how all the Hackintosh mods are working so with time I hope to solve all of this.

First of all, thanks! Fantastic guide! Everything worked -almost- flawlessly! (I'm only having issues with losing Bluetooth after sleep).

Dumb question: what do I have to do if I followed the original instructions for iGPU and now I want to connect a dedicated GPU? I don't want to do a clean install. I take it I only need to replace the EFI with the DGPU one, turn off the computer, connect the GPU and then turn on again? What if I don't want to lose my current serial?

Yes, that's the process although I think the main differences are just the config.plist contents. Using Xcode or Clover Configurator you can copy the SYMBIOS entry from your existing iGPU config.plist to the DGPU version. You might try and install the video card and not change anything, its been awhile but I think that worked for me with no issues although I went from DGPU to iGPU.

@ModMike, thank you for the incredibly detailed instructions. I’ve tried to follow them as closely as possible, but I can’t get the installer to finish booting. My system:
Asus ROG STRIX Z390-I
i5-9400
Samsung 970 EVO 1TB
DW1560

The hardware is all new for this build.

Mojave Installer Version: 14.6.04
BIOS Version: 2417

I am using integrated graphics and I have tried with both your provided IGPU-EFI.zip and Beta IGPU-EFI.zip.

In both cases, I get a black screen during installer startup. It’s hard to see exactly the last thing displayed before going black, but I think it is:
AirPortBrcmNIC::getSSIDData(): Get failure: APPLE80211_IDC_SSID: 6
It’s hard to tell if it stops at exactly the same point each time, but it seems pretty close. I’ve also attached a screenshot from slightly earlier.

I was afraid that I had physically damaged the hardware while installing the DW1560 so I tried installing Ubuntu and that worked perfectly, recognized the DW1560, and both WiFi and Bluetooth work, so I don’t think I broke anything.

I noticed BrcmBluetoothInjector.kext among the attachments to your instructions, but I didn’t see this referenced anywhere. I figured I’d try adding it to the /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other, but it didn’t make a difference so I removed it.

I was still suspicious of WiFi so I removed: AirportBrcmFixup.kext, BrcmFirmwareData.kext, and BrcmPatchRAM2.kext. I still get a black screen, but the last thing printed has changed. Now I see:
[AGPM Controller] FB handler: <ptr> GPU[0] IGPU

I’m not sure what to try next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Sorry if this has already been addressed, I’m still combing through this thread.
