Catalina will surely put the final nail in the coffin on those old apps...

Yes, sadly. I suppose it's not just the loss of good software, that happens and we move on, it's the not finding a suitable replacement which is continuing to be supported that is frustrating. I mean - Aperture -> Lightroom ? Nah! o_O

  1. Launch Hackintool and click on the USB tab.
  2. Find a USB 2 device and plug then unplug it in to every single USB port on your computer.
  3. Find a USB 3 device and plug then unplug it in to every single USB port on your computer.
  4. Click on the button the bottom of the Hackintool window to generate your SSDT and kext.
  5. Decide if you want to use the SSDT or the kext. (don't use both)

That's very civil of you, and extremely helpful. Thanks.

I just miss the old good days with Snow Leopard, that was great even on a normal hdd.
And I remember when I updated to Lion on my 2009 27" i7 iMac and got spinning wheels all time.

I think I remember that I replaced the dvd to another HDD just to have Snow Leopard to work, and Lion or Mountain Lion to sync iPhone and other stupid stuff.

FWIW, In general, I'm not a lover of Apple - I think SJ was an icehole, and Tim Cook, well, he seems to me to be like SJ but without the talent - the rest of the crowd are time-servers whose primary occupation appears to be the accumulation of face. This is all psychologically understandable but there isn't very much commercial purpose to it apart from making a quick buck.

As it is, I believe the future is IOS and over time the mac will be allowed to die off in any form that we would recognise. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the whole Hackintosh community disappears soon after Catalina, though it may take longer than that. What isn't really in doubt (for me) is that Apple are rip-off merchants, and their bosses are just chasing the bonuses now. Apple will disappear as soon as the yuppies stop queuing around the block to buy the next Apple thing to look at while crossing the road and wanting to look cool. They'll go the way of all lemmings soon enough, yuppie trends are like London buses, there'll be another one coming real soon.

In the meantime, I'm seriously thinking of a move back to Windows. The wheel is turning and with that dreadful woman gone and Jony Ive riding off into the sunset, we'll all get to choose between Federighi and the perfectly awful Eddie Cue and his Hawaian shirts; I suppose they could always put him in charge of design, that'd work.

Hey ho.

Isn't it before 1. add USBInjectAll + activate the patches for your macOS version?
And after 5. in case you're using SSDT keep USBInjectAll and remove the patches and in case you're using kext remove USBInjectAll and the patches?

Yup.

Thanks, is there a preference between those two methods? I have an older Toshiba laptop which is having issues with waking up from sleep. To my knowledge I think everything is correct but it simply won't work. Wake ups lead always to a shutdown so I thought maybe I should try out the SSDT method...

It doesn't sound like fixing USB will resolve your issue...

Regardless, you should still get USB fixed. If the shutdown on wake still occurs, try to start a new thread to resolve it.

or install or go to Windows.
Try windows first before breaking the hack. I did the same for weeks now, I really forced myself to use Windows instead of macOS since I dont like how Apple acts. I really tried it over month. Result is that I deleted the Windows SSD and use it as Backup for my Hack since the Hack is easier to maintain and runs better than Windows 10 ...
Under Windows you need so many s*itty 3rd party apps to even do basic tasks like showing foldersizes in Exploder, or sending an email with an alias
