[GUIDE] Injection of AMD Vega Power and Fan Control Properties

Thats one should just work? I mean the fans can't stop has its a blower style card but you should be able to keep them under control with VGTab?

Indeed... but there are others with the same problem as me, crashes under NO load, does fine under heavy load.

yup, same hardware as pastry chef's build, just using a different model of Radeon :(
You think there might be a problem with the Graphics Card itself? Do you have any problems in Windows? If you have it installed that is.

macOS 10.14.5 Beta 1 finally contains new Vega drivers. Includes Radeon VII support, but more importantly, it fixes ALL Vega 64 and 56 bugs. Fan control now works without PowerPlayTable and the annoying coil whine is gone because they finally fixed this annoying power state jumping on every pixel change. Currently, performance went down a bit under certain circumstances and video acceleration is broken, but I am sure all of this will be fixed in 10.14.5 final. All Vega owners can look forward to it!

Cool! So you think that with this update would be better to remove all VGtab fixes, that might cause conflicts?

Yup and if you want Overclock, create a new one without any special adjustments, just like you would for Windows.
Little gaming demo:
Dirt 4 on macOS 10.14.5 Beta 1 without a PowerPlayTable

@CMMChris,

Thanks for updating us with this important change to the Vega support in MacOS 10.14.5 ...
Looking forward to the release ...

Can you confirm that Apple have also fixed the Total Power attribute/reading ?
Try running this terminal command when Vega GPU is under full load :-

ioreg -l |grep \"PerformanceStatistics\" | cut -d '{' -f 2 | tr '|' ',' | tr -d '}' | tr ',' '\n'|grep 'Temp\|Fan\|Power'

In all previous releases the Total Power figure would be incorrect often showing 680W (or more) when under full load.

Cheers
Jay

Nope, not fixed.

Nope, not fixed.

What about temperature readings? HWMonitor, iStat etc.
