[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

I have the 17-an011na with gtx 1050, presuming pretty much the same as your system. The HP G6 2221ss patch works mostly until you unplug and replug the charger and it sits on not charging until you reset holding power button for 10 secs then it will charge correctly, it will drain fine too just wont charge correctly when its been unplugged. Let me know if you get anywhere with your battery.

Yes, you're right about the description of the behaviour. And your system specs is almost the same with mine. I'd send you a message so we don't go off-topic.
Edit: Oops! Seems like the messaging feature is broken at the moment.

Yes I found that too, think you need to hit 75 posts before you can message.

Yes, you're right. I'm sorry about that. I was going to ask if they ran into any issue with audio, because my maximum audio volume is low compared to Windows. I'll just open a new thread if I can't find a fix for it. My apologies.

yes, new thread would be good as this thread is for battery stuff :)

Hi
@RehabMan I'm having a few issues after patching my DSDT on my new laptop.

1. The battery percentage appears to be reporting accurately, however I get this:
Screenshot 2019-01-18 at 18.52.40.png

2. Also there is no detection of the AC adapter being present at any time (it was plugged in when the above screenshot was taken, for example).

3. Finally, with ACPIBatteryManager loaded the laptop's fans are running a lot more frequently and a lot faster than otherwise. Even under 12% CPU load they are extremely loud.

Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

MacBookPro14,1 would be a better choice of SMBIOS, not sure if that would sort out your issues though but would be worth changing

Thank you. I'll try making the recommended change and report back in due course.

Hi @Feartech

I implemented the change to the SMBIOS you recommended and it seems to have fixed the 'low battery' warning issue. Thank you! The fan noise and AC adapter detection problem remain the same though.

Please see attached updated error reporting files.

AC Power adapter presence is now correctly detected after dropping SSDTs. Fan noise is still unaffected (it's REALLY bad).

Updated error reporting files attached.

Additional: Out of interest, I installed the FakeSMC monitoring kexts and HWMonitor -- on AC power the CPU is running x34 multipliers pretty much all the time (it does step down occasionally) and x32 on battery. I wonder if there is a way of changing this?

Have opened a new thread for my problem. (Click here)
