I've owned and used a lot of a different Macs. My work computer is a hackintosh. Mostly because it was cheap to build and ran 2x faster than the iMacs we had around. Plus, the ability to stuff 6 hard drives inside the box along with the mSATA... I run 3 monitors, including an Apple 30". Before thunderbolt, it could only be done by spending a lot of money on a MacPro.

I built a 2nd Hackintosh and called it "ImFasterThanYou" and have had people use it to run modeling programs on because it really was faster than their machines.

Currently own a MacBook Pro (2011) and a MacMini that I use as a server. I was using a hackintosh as the server, but decided to use the Mac Mini because updates kept breaking things.

I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini with i5. Got it in 2013 and upgraded the RAM and SSD. Still works to this day with Mojave, although I use the Hackintosh as my work computer.

I bought recently an iPad 5th generation, and I have been an iPhone user since the iPhone 4 (I now have the X) but I am also thinking of getting a used MacBook Air. I don’t want to get into the hassle of Hackintoshing a laptop again. They are more difficult and limited than desktops.

Any recommendations for the Macbook Air on a budget? I need Mojave on it and I am in Europe.

My 15" 2012 Ivy Bridge Retina MacBook Pro barely made the cut with Mojave- I'll have to decide whether to upgrade next year.

I had Late 2008 MacBook Pro but unfortunately it died a week ago, before i had imac 21,5 2011
2011 mbp
And Mac mini 2012 Mac mini,
Now up to buying new Mac mini

How is it running now after all this time and with Mojave?

Everything is working fine- the NVIDIA Kepler 650m still works great as does the Intel HD 4000. The Ivy Bridge architecture plus NVIDIA Kepler have really lasted a long time.

That’s great to hear.

I still have a Gigabyte based 7 Series CustoMac with Intel Core i7-3770 with Intel HD 4000 graphics running Mojave too- this was the first Gigabyte series with UEFI but works well- GA-Z77X-UD5-TH. Same type of computer as my 2012 MacBook Pro.

Nice.

I only used my Windows laptop (ASUSPRO B9440UA) before starting my Youtube channel, and it was adequate for basic tasks. Hubby was using the Mac Mini as a server.

But then we got into travel videos and I hated the memory leaks and issues with Windows, so that’s what prompted me to build my now perfecty working Hackintosh PC for video editing. Then I fell back in love with macOS and Mojave is amazing, that’s why I now want to get rid of the Asus and get a Macbook.
