No Audio Devices - AppleHDA Realtek Audio

I originally installed Multibeast 10.2 on my Hackintosh when I first set it up in January 2018 (it’s dual-boot, with Mac High Sierra installed on one internal SSD, and Windows 10 installed on a second internal SSD). Following this site’s procedures as written back then, I was able to get full Mac audio working (realtekALC 887/888b) with very little problem. In the months after installation I’d often boot into Windows from the Clover entries screen, play a PC game, then subsequently restart and let Clover boot-up Mac OS by default with no audio problems at all. Over time I upgraded to 10.13.6 and still had no audio issues, even though I hadn’t updated Multibeast from its original installation.

Last week, though, I did decide to update Multibeast to v.10.4, since I saw that it was recommended for 10.13.6. Again I followed the recommendations for audio, starting by first extracting a native version of AppleHDA.kext from my Mac OS installation dmg and replacing the existing AppleHDA.kext in \S\L\E\ using the Terminal commands I read about on this site. I also deleted the realtekALC.kext from \L\E\ and, after rebooting, I used Multibeast 10.4 to enable audio using the two-step method described, rebooting in-between each step. (See attached screenshots). Ultimately I succeeded and had full audio back in High Sierra 10.13.6. However, that audio lasted only until my first Clover boot into Windows. The next time Clover booted into High Sierra by default, my Mac audio was gone.

I’ve since repeated the entire Multibeast 10.4 procedure described above, but still cannot get my audio working again in High Sierra. I’m not sure if I should post this problem here or in the multi-boot forum but I thought I’d start here first. Attached is a zip file containing the requested files. The only item I don’t see is Intel High Definition Audio mentioned in System Information/Hardware/Audio; all I see there is a Devices section; screenshot attached.

Yes did the cold start
I did not have a applehda.kext in /S/L/E. Please tell me that wasnt the issue. I added the Mojave default applehda from a brand new install on another harddrive.

Here are the files including the terminal output

Hi, still no audio.

Steps I took since your reply:
1. I wasn’t sure how to uninstall FakePCIID, but I did remove FakePCIID_Intel_HDMI_Audio.kext and FakePCIID.kext from /S/L/E and hope that’s how to do it
2. Removed realtekALC.kext from /L/E
3. Using Terminal commands, removed AppleHDA.kext, replaced it with native one extracted from Mac OSX 10.13.6 dmg, and did the chown, touch and kextcache commands
4. Restarted
5. Used Multibeast 10.4 to install 100/200/200 Series Audio Support and 200/Z370/X299 Audio Device ID patch
6. Restarted
7. Used Multibeast 10.4 to install realtekALC.kext (887/888b)
8. Restarted
9. Still no audio. Files attached.

AppleHDA.kext is not native, 700 KB missing
Run the installer over the existing install
Restart, reply with new files

Hi, still no audio.

Steps I took since your reply:
1. Used Pacifist to extract AppleHDA.kext from my original High Sierra 13.0 dmg (previously I’d used the 10.13.6 combo updater dmg). Then used Terminal to remove existing AppleHDA.kext from /S/L/E, copy the extracted file and do the chown, touch and kextcache commands
2. Restarted. Still no audio.
3. Used Multibeast 10.4 to install 100/200/200 Series Audio Support and 200/Z370/X299 Audio Device ID patch
4. Restarted
5. Still no audio. Files attached.

Hi again.. after posting the above, I tried:
1. Removing realtekALC.kext from /L/E
2. Restarted
3. Used Multibeast 10.4 to re-install realtekALC.kext (887/888b)
4. Restarted
5. Sound restored !

I currently have audio back (Internal Speakers, 2 Line Outs, etc.) BUT... now I'm worried that selecting to launch Windows 10 at next Clover boot will somehow wipe out my Mac audio again... which is what started this whole problem...
