Tried to update my Hack from 10.13.5 to 10.13.6 through Mac Appstore. After downloading of update computer offers to restart my computer. Clicked "restart" and saw label "Installing Software Update" with progress bar with near 5% progress. After some time label changes to "Restarting" and there is spinner appeared and system restarts. In clover choosing "Boot macOS from Macintosh HD". Next my system starts with 10.13.5 version as if nothing had happened.

You need to keep booting from macOS Install instead of the actual High Sierra partition.
You need to do that until this temporary installation partition disappears and you're only left with the then-updated High Sierra partition.

I have this problem too, maybe we are doing something wrong?
