Just out of curiosity....

Will there be a buyers guide for iMac Pro like systems which feature a i9-79xxx CPU?

So far I just saw mentioned an Asus Prime X299 Deluxe motherboard for a build here...
CPUs and GPUs are clear now...but would be nice to have a list of supported motherboards here (o;

Nobody buils a x299 system for christmas? ;-)

It is not at all straightforward to get MacOS running on a X299 system. It can be done, but for some reason it seems to be much more difficult than "mainstream" systems like Z370 or Z270.

So I don't think there will be such a guide any time soon.

There are no plans to include X299 hardware in the Buyer's Guide. It has grown much too large and difficult to navigate already.

You'll need to subscribe to and follow the X299 User Builds and guides on this site. Just use search and you'll find them. They all have a list of the components to use in them.

As was mentioned previously, it's fairly difficult to have success with X299 unless you are an advanced hackintosher. It's more like the Ph.D. level of hackintoshing. If you've just completed course 101, I don't suggest that you try it. It can end up being a colossal waste of time and money.

I know that some people provide their completed EFI folder but that doesn't guarantee success. There is always a level of understanding required too. It can end up being a full time job just to keep one running. If you don't mind spending a lot of your time researching and tinkering then by all means give it a try. Taking on a great challenge can be a lot of fun for some people but not everyone.
