pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

@nenao i have a setup like yours. RX580, dual monitors connected via DP. And I use EFI pastrychefs latest EFI 4.4.4 - theres no need to change anything in that to make this work.

But yours is RX 580 Pulse 8GB. Mine is a Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming 8GB. Maybe it is the problem for me....

Well, maybe. If that's the case, it opens a lot of complexity, I don't expect to be easily solved.
But I don't understand why FakeSMC makes a difference in your case. I can only state that this EFI folders works smoothly with the Sapphire RX580 Pulse with regard to dual monitors and displayport.

Hey @pastrychef , I'm now getting around to wanting to update my system with the latest bios, ios, efi files etc. I've been rocking with 10.13.2 and haven't touched anything since Jan 10th before you started logging the updates in the OP. Do you recommend going through the updates one by one on updates #1 through #21? Or do you think I can take shortcuts here and there? For example, for BIOS, do you think I'll have any issues going from 0615 to 1412 or do you think I should take baby steps and do 0615 -> 0805 -> 0809 -> 1002 -> 1406 -> 1412?

Update to latest BIOS. No need to do any of the older ones.

Since you are using a GTX 1070, you can not upgrade to Mojave yet because Nvidia has not released any web drivers for Mojave yet. Therefore, you should only update to High Sierra 10.13.6.
  1. Backup your existing, working EFI folder to the EFI partition of a USB flash drive.
  2. Update your EFI folder to r4.3.2 from post #1.
  3. Copy the Serial, Board Serial, and UUID from your existing config.plist to the new config.plist included with EFI r4.3.2.
  4. Update to macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 either via App Store or via Combo Update.
  5. Done.

You are a legend. Thank you for the advice yet again!

Has anyone tried installing a thunderbolt card with this build? Looking to install one and I'm checking to see if anyone here has been successfull.

Previously, I was led to believe that we must have a Thunderbolt header on the motherboard for a Thunderbolt card to work.

However, recently, some people have reported success in getting Titan Ridge Thunderbolt cards to work on old MacPro5,1s and, obviously, those don't have Thunderbolt headers. So, I've been a little tempted to try messing around with it but haven't gotten around to it yet...

You can read about the guys with old Mac Pros and their Thunderbolt cards here:

Does it still have to be woke up in windows? is this something that has to be done every time you shut the computer down?

I haven't read in detail, but, yes, I think Windows is still needed.

Hi,

Im getting these errors when i try and install. Any ideas what the problem is? i have the same board and CPU, using corsair platinum with a RX 580.

My build has a Intel Optane stick which i turn off in the Bios when i attempt my install.

Ive swapped boards from the Msi z370m Carbon AC to the ASUS seems to be a similar problem with both boards for me, its doing my head in...
