Some month ago I bought a Mac Pro Case and decided to built a Hackintosh in it :)
Now I want to present my work here.

Used Hardware
  • Gigabyte Z170M D3H
  • Intel i7 6700K
  • Gigabyte GTX 1070 OC
  • 16 GB 2400 DDR4
  • Corsair SF 600 SFX PSU
  • 2x 250GB SSD (OS X & Windows)
  • 2TB HDD

The first big problem was to remove the top shelf, but with some advice from a Hackintosh forum in my country I managed it.

In the top shelf I cut two holes for the SATA cables an for the PSU.
To attach the power supply, I used some Velcro Strips.

in the upper left corner I mounted a fan and there´s still enough space for the HDD

Then I mounted 2 fans in one of the original parts.

The next huge thing was to get USB 3 to the front. I decided to change only the USB ports.

On the Backside I cut a hole with a Dremel for the motherboard connections.

To get the motherboard inside the case I used some JB Weld and sockets from amazon.
It was very difficult to use all the original parts so I had to edit them a lot with the Dremel.

After that, I finally was able to build all the parts inside the case

I hope you like my build :)

Hey, what is the USB 3 cable you used for the Front Panel? If you have a link that be awesome. Thanks.

That is a nice looking and clean case. I am about to do one and I want to model it after yours. A few questions: can you show the rear of the machine? How did you interface the power supply with the original apple connector on the back?

Also, is there anywhere that shows step by step what you did with the front USB 3s? Its the first mod that I've seen that has that and I definitely want to do that but I'm not very experienced. Is it as simple as just ripping out the old ones and placing the new ones there? How are they secured?

@domkikong in the framed Area are small metal pieces. I´m not sure how to call them in english. You have to remove them. I used a screwdriver. Unfortunately I have no picture or video. I can't explain it very good in English. sorry

@bixmix Thank you :)

I didn't´use the original apple connector.

The solution for the USB 3 is not very good. But it´s working ;)
I ripped out the old ones and placing the new ones there. I drilled a hole left and right and tied it with wire.

Interesting. I am going to order a spare front IO panel to try to do a similar thing. I'm a little wary about drilling into the board as I am not experienced enough to tell if im drilling through something important.

Has anyone else had any success adding USB 3.0 ports to the stock front panel? I've seen a few that are secured with screws that are visible from outside but I'd like to keep the front grill looking as stock as possible.

@bixmix it´s very hard, you can´t really break it. But you have to remove the metal on the board. Then it´s easier to drill.

So I've been working on this and this is what I have so far. I haven't attached them to the panel yet and I hesitate to drill holes as I don't know exactly which spots I can safely drill through without damaging the other parts of the board.

Anyone have any experience with adhesives? Do you think something like conventional superglue could work? Any other ideas?
