Just this afternoon, my 27" mid-2011 iMac shut-down and got stuck in a reboot cycle that won't stop
I booted in verbose mode and captured this:

Can anyone spare about 1.25 minutes and the time to reply to tell me what seems to have gone wrong in my iMac?
It has worked flawlessly up to today...

Thanks!

There is an old saying that goes like 'Everything is working until it no longer works' so the argument of 'It has worked flawlessly up to today' is almost never valid =P

You should tell us what version of macOS you are using, also have u tried booting in safe mode? 'Holding shift'

You could also try doing a repair-install, by holding command+R and then reinstall macOS on the same drive without formatting, this fixes a lot of issues and it usually don't break any application.

Honestly, the only problem I have with this iMac is that the CD slot drive won't read disks. Outside of that, the only thing I ever did to is mechanically was upgrade the RAM a few times.

I ran a hardware test during boot and it passed.
However, nothing I do during booting seems to work. The progress bar gets about 3/4 of the way and it freezes (if it doesn't either reboot or just give a bright white screen).
