ALC898/Desktop pathmaps do not work on ALC898/laptops. None of the visible audio devices are connected to physical connectors.
HDMI: the connected display does not appear to support HDMI audio, off topic.
Ah, well at least I can cross a few more things off the list. Thanks regardless.

layout-id: 7 is not supported on this site, off topic.
For support: set Audio ID: 1, restart, reply with new files.
Thank you @toleda for getting back to me on this. I've changed Audio ID to 1, but there's still no sound at all. Please see the attached new files.

Thank you!

Trial and error never works; one audio device maps to one correct audio port.
See Post #1/I. No Sound/1. Audio Outputs/1. Speakers
As noted, verify sound.

OH F. Thank you very much. You were indeed right. A pair of working speakers are working with those instructions. Apparently HANNSPREE Hanns*g HS246 internal speakers are NOT taking the minijack audio input. Apparently it expects the audio to come from the HDMI signal. Is there any way you can point me out so I can work this out. In windows it's working oob.

Thank you again.
