Ok,

Sry im late on this thread, but i succesfully installed Leopard on my Dell 1558.
My specs are:
i7 Clarksfield
Mother Dell: 0874P6
BIOS: A11
SB: HM55
RAM: 4gb
VGA: ATI Mobility HD Radeon 5400 Series

I installed using iBoot default, a Retail SL DVD and applying 10.6.5 patch and multibeast easystep.

I have Sound, Trackpad, Network LAN, and almost all the common things working on, i dont have the Wireless working (yet) but i thing it will be possible some day.

I repartitioned my HD 500gb using DU from Mac OSX DVD Install and after that applied the backup i did previously with ghost, now i have 5 partitions, and dual booting with SL and W7.

And the last thing, i didnt get any kext or something like that working on yet, because im such a n00b with this things, but is quite interesting =) and i like that.

Cheers! and Gratz to everyone who help us to do this working on

Special thanks to you tonymacx86 & macman for doing this possible for us, simple mortals =]

Hi,

I am new to the hackintosh scene and I own a Studio 1558 with the i5-520M with the ATI 4570 graphics card.

I downloaded both versions of iboot, regular and legacy and just bought my retail version of SL 10.6.3 today. I tried the step-by-step process listed but all I get after inserting the SL DVD is the white screen with the Apple in the center and the circling symbol underneath. Eventually with the regular iboot, it will tell me I need to restart my computer (failed attempt to get to the installation screen), but with legacy and in safe mode for both versions it just never loads to the installation screen. I let it sit for 30 minutes and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Oh, i forgot to mention that when booting i needed to type in busratio=20 to get it past the white apple logo. some people also say that busratio=20 cpus=1 works too. so try both of those. (also make sure you're booting verbose (-v))

I just realized my BIOS might not be updated to the latest A11 so that might also be a reason for why I am still having issues getting to the install screen but here is what I am typing in prior to confirming the install (without quotes of course) "-x -v busratio=20 cpus=1"

What shows is a blue screen with text continuously filling the page then emptying then it goes to a black screen (looks like command prompt) with white text continuously scrolling down and then just stops saying 'com_lnx2mac_RealtekRTL81xx: Ethernet address 00:26:b9:22:67:04'

have you tried booting without -x? also try -f. also have you tried booting with an ethernet cable plugged in?

It wasn't easy!!
I needed to boot up with Empire EFI v1.085 cd (I don't know why it wouldn't boot up with Tony's CD it said something about cable error. I thought it might have been because my CD/DVD drive was IDE instead of SATA but now that I read people booting with your CD I don't know what happened).
Anyways, I installed OSX.
Ran Multibeast from the iBoot CD, restart, and the laptop boots up just fine without the need of CD. Getting the audio to work was a hassle. After restarting, I had audio, but installing IO80211 kext for wifi broke audio.
After install IO80211 kxt for Wifi, I had to re-install multibeast to get audio working again.
After this, I could not access battery info. I installed Voodobattery sometinhg.. and got that working.
This is still a work in progress so last night I installed a differnet kext for audio let's see if it doesn't break beacuse after two days, audio was disabled again out of nowhere. The kext was a modified Voodoohda kext "supposed" to work for Creative SB X-FI systems.
I kept researching and got bluetooth 365 to work with another kext and a script that runs on startup.
The whole process was VERY complicated for me (this took from Friday 11 am to Sunday 3 am to get it fully dual booting SL and Win 7, because there is little to NO info on getting this done on my system (specs below). I had a lot of trial and error going on but I hope to hep anyone to do it way simpler than I did.
THANKS to TONY, THE MAN!!

The things that keep me going back to Win7 are:
For some reason some hotkeys don't work (I am not to surprised as my keyboard is the backlit keyboard so theres something not normal there).
I was able to get the resolution to 1280x1024 by editing the com.apple.boot, I added 1920x1080x32, but 1280x1024 is the highest resolution I can get.
No QE/CI
I can't adjust the display brigthness
And of course, the CPU is running full speed all the time and it eats the battery out.
