Hi, I just bought most the components to assemble this build. The only thing I'm missing is the Alpine Ridge card.
Does anyone know where can I buy this card without it being overpriced?
ebay: 140usd
amazon: not selling it
newegg: 150usd
fry's electronics: 55usd but not shipping to Florida, US.

Thanks

The card is available at amazon again.

You tried to change the memory slots 1-3 to 2-4? And did you ticked the « trust » box in clover configurator in the XMP section?

I disabled XMP in bios and selected profile 1 in Clover.

Problems I still have is at the front of my case:
Front panel audio and mic aren’t working as they’re not detected by MacOS.
And I cannot plug any external hard disk drives in my front USB 3 ports. They’re not displayed in Finder or Disk Utility. When I plug an external disk drive in a USB 2 port, it’s getting displayed as an INTERNAL drive.

you applied the patch for 10.13.4 for USB?
What kind of method do you use for audio? AppleALC?

I actually did a whole re-installation.

This time, I followed a topic from insanely mac. Didn't use Uni or MultiBeast. Used Patch for USB and now USB is working properly.

My Hackintosh is running great. Only thing that bothers me is the problem regarding XMP and sleep. I just disable XMP in the bios and have it on with Clover.

PS: Ok I installed the audio with AppleALC method and it works... jesus christ. They should update this guide :(

I'm sorry if the speed in which I update my post isn't fast enough for you, and bitching about it isn't going to fix the issue. I use my machine for production & making $$, and I'm NOT going to update to the latest incremental version of macOS in the middle of a bunch of projects.

Maybe YOU should post a detailed explanation & the steps you took to resolve the issue caused when you broke it by upgrading to 10.13.4 before having more information? That would be a nice give-back to the community that's helped you thus far...

Update for 10.13.4: On Sunday afternoon, I popped in a spare Corsair Force3 SSD, used the latest UniBeast to create a new UB install key for 10.13.4. I did a fresh install following the same steps - it went pretty much without a hitch. However, when following the same steps for audio that were successful for 10.13.3, I can confirm that the the same steps do not work when doing a fresh install of 10.13.4 (and probably break if/when you update from 10.13.3 > 10.13.4). So there must be some significant change in how audio is addressed between the 2 builds.

If anyone following the thread *has* had success under 10.13.4, I'm sure we all would really appreciate it if you could provide some detailed steps that got you over the audio finish line. On this build for me, getting onboard audio is not a huge deal-breaker, as I have my old OWC Thunderbolt2 dock that supports USB audio, and use that as my primary audio source (using Akitio TB3>TB2 adapter). BUT, it would make this a much nicer post if we could include getting onboard audio to work for 10.13.4.

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment!

PS - as a side-note, IMHO there is a bit of a philosophical difference re: updating production machines every time there is an OS incremental (or version) update between
  • folks who have spent many years doing pro audio or pro video work vs.
  • hobbyists or tech-savvy tinkerers.
Anyone who uses their system in day-to-day production and/or for clients paying $$ **rarely** keep their machines on the latest builds or OS. If a machine is rock-solid stable, you RARELY if ever do incremental updates. That is, unless the update introduces new features or provides new operability or support for things previously not supported.

Going forward, I should probably include a disclaimer that the build post works for the macOS version cited in the OP, and that I would probably not be on the bleeding edge of updates each time one is released. BUT if I have the opportunity, I'm of course happy to update my post to reflect any changes as a result of the success of others who choose to update, and who share/provide instructions on getting their updated version to work!
