The power connectors at the SATA block are salvaged from un-used modular cables. I am about out of these and need to locate a source. Performance-PCs has white ones here: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=60_923_924 however I would prefer black.

If you find a source for black ones, please leave a note.

Good modding,
neil

You can find them on ebay. In the past I've gotten inline sata to molex cables in bulk and removed the SATA cannectors because it was slightly cheaper that way.

Amazing...nice build :shifty:
This pc would spend many day to build, right?

looks amazing nice mod well done

The concept was there for sometime (see the Short Stack) and I finally started the build in February and completed in early April of this year.

Completed is not a good term as I came back several times and tweaked the unit. I added the optical drive in August where the SATA data and power connections are part of the drawer connectivity.

Hi neilhart, i have been looking at your mods since last year. This SoS is the one i really like the most for the uniqueness. I would like to ask for your permission to use the SoS in my 2nd update on my mod. It's been 4 months only when i finished my first attempt. Now i will be continuing my mod with new ideas including your SoS. I hope you'll allow me to use it.

li was trying to send you pm but i am not yet allowed since i am below 75 post :(

hoping for your response soon.

sir neil? :D

Yes feel free to use the SOS for a model. There are always things that can be done better and alternate methods to achieve the goal. If you have questions, I will attempt to answer in more responsive manner.

Of interest, I sold the SOS recently as it was just sitting and it needed an owner that would use it.

Hey Neil, I've actually purchased this system a few years ago from someone in the neighborhood. And I'm wondering if you had any suggestions for upgrading the GPU. I've been using the system for video editing and the current graphics card isn't cutting it. I'm totally new at this and I'm hoping for some guidance. Can you help?
