AppleHDA HDMI Audio [Guide]

Is that how it works on your system? Is that fixable?
Confirms the driver problem, boot does not sense HDMI audio codec, hot plug does
Sapphire GTX 1050 Ti boot display on DP works as expected
Nvidia driver fix required

There is no macOS system alert after wake on native or non native systems.
Sorry I phrased what I meant incorrectly. I meant to say that as soon as I invoke a system alert, such as emptying the trash, then the first such occasion will only make a click sound, subsequent system alerts, after this first one, for instance arrival of an email, are produced with full fidelity. Wandering whether that can somehow be overcome, by one or other HDMI sound wake routine.

I see, thank you.
I also have problem with fan always spinning, even when I am just starring at desktop.
Does your ever stop?

Never experienced the issue.
A benefit is HDMI audio is 100% digital; it won't make a click, buzz or pop unless that is presented digitally.

Thanks for the clarification. I subsequently noticed that when no HDMI audio services have been active for a while, the same click manifests itself when I attempt to output audio via HDMI. Only with my second attempt at outputting audio is the audio output at the desired fidelity. It is reproducible as well.
Never mind though, I am toying with the idea of getting an Asus RX-580 Strix - 8GB, the only model available where I live, hoping that that card will provide me with more joy than the GTX-970, particularly because I am using 2 x LG-27UD58 4k monitors being freesync capable and hopefully a better match overall for what I am doing graphics wise, ie. FCPX as well as Motion.
Would have loved to get the Saphire instead as per your comment to @dmitry_matora a few moments ago. Hoping It will turn out that it is NOT money down the drain with my forced upon choice for the Strix :)

The issues is with device the HDMI cable plugs into that makes the sound. Contact the manufacturer.

after a week of hundreds of reboots and attempting every HDMI solution out there I'm tossing in the towel and calling for help!

My fan even stops at times it is not needed. See macOS Native Discrete GPU Power Management
No disrespected intended, Sapphire is the most macOS compatible graphics card; in MHO.
Hi @toleda I can now agree with your statement regarding Sapphire as my new Strix does everything with minimum
configuration as well. The Strix in principle is just an OCed Sapphire. For HDMI audio to work I just placed Lilu and WhateverGreen kexts, which I compiled from latest "masters", into /Clover/kexts/other, without any boot arguments pertaining to these 2 kexts, and that was it.
