[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

For those of you on 10.13.3 I believe the intel framebuffer code has been reverse engineered a few days ago, which in theory should allow for better performance as you'll be able to upload the native intel graphics firmware for Sky, Kaby and/or Coffee Lake.

I can't use it yet on 10.12.6 (keep getting the known 'falling back to host-side scheduling' error) but users on 10.13.3 should easily be able to update the intelgraphicsfixup.kext which contains the intel firmware, and remove the -disablegfxfirmware from the boot argument.
Yep, already made it a couple of days ago, by the way I am not sure that the firmware is loading. With force firmware loading option, the laptop becomes extremly bogus, while in the readme for the kext it's mentionned that -disablegfxfirmware is just not a mandatory option now, and that the kext itself decides to load or not the firmware...

I finally purchased a usbc to hdmi cable although both my monitor and tv do not seem to work. I have also tried rebooting with the cable connected with no luck.

Other than that a perfect hackintosh. Any ideas?

It should work, even with HDMI audio and hot-plug. I am currently using a 4k@60Hz HDMI 2.0 monitor through an active adapter which asks the PC for a Display Port signal through the "alternate mode", and then actively converts it to HDMI 2.0.

Please link to the adapter you are using, please.

Make sure DVMT-prealloc is set correctly.
There is a patch in config.plist that seems to require DVMT-prealloc set to 96mb.
thank you, that worked. had DVMT-prealloc on 64MB because I had Sierra installed before.

Hi every one,

Hope you're going well.

I have decided to deal with my English gaps in order to solicit your help.

I'm in trouble with the configuring of Clover on my High Sierra installation.
I only succeeded to boot High Sierra with this config files : https://github.com/syscl/XPS9350-macOS that I used for installating. In fact, I tried to boot with this config : https://github.com/the-darkvoid/XPS9360-macOS , but without success.. Maybe a misunderstood :/

I just updated my details in order to show what are my specs.

I upload my EFI folder.

A lot of things are not working :
- Graphic glitches
- No Sound
- No Ethernet
- No WiFi (but I didn't expected it to work, I did not swapped my killer wifi for now)
- No hotplug usb-C

I really hope that you could help me, I don't wan't to go back on Windows :'( Please ...

Sorry for my English ;)

EDIT :
  • After updating from 10.13.1 to 10.13.3 my graphic issue is now gone. However, I use a Dock dell WD15 and my 2 external monitors (HDMI & VGA) are recognized as the same screen :/.
  • I also fixed up ethernet ethernet issues.
  • I can also have sound through the dock but can't get the internal speacker and mic working..
  • Hotplug of the dock is not working neither..

Can someone provide me some help to deal with this remaining issues..

Thanks for all !!!! You're the best ;)

EDIT 2 :
I used the last update of darkvoid github and everything is running very smooth

Here is a list of what's not working at this time :
  • Hotplug of my dock (Dell WD15)
  • Battery percentage in menu bar is not updating
  • My external monitors plugged on the dock are recognized as the same screen..

Just to add to @hackintose 's post - 2.6.2 patches a little-known backdoor k/a the SMM Security Mitigation trap.

If Dell implements this in the same way that Lenovo did then it's likely the UEFI shell won't work (reliably) any more.

Interesting. I have removed the boot option of -disablegfxfirmware and updated to 1.2.6 version of fixup and everything seems just fine. Snappy as ever and no lag.
