[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

It sounds like dell will release a maxed out xps 13 without the 4k display.

I'd take the 16gb ram over the i7. Especially sans the power hungry panel with too many pixels squished into a form factor that cant use it.

Still dont see why they cant leave a single standard usb port. I was surprised to see the 3.5mm is still there.

I wonder what the battery life is like comparing the i5˜i7 / 8gb˜16gb under moderate load.

For those of you on 10.13.3 I believe the intel framebuffer code has been reverse engineered a few days ago, which in theory should allow for better performance as you'll be able to upload the native intel graphics firmware for Sky, Kaby and/or Coffee Lake.

I can't use it yet on 10.12.6 (keep getting the known 'falling back to host-side scheduling' error) but users on 10.13.3 should easily be able to update the intelgraphicsfixup.kext which contains the intel firmware, and remove the -disablegfxfirmware from the boot argument.
Can confirm working, will benchmark later

First, I want to thank you all for the huge amount of work you've done, do make it possible that also a newbe like me is possible to build a working hackintosh!

I've finally managed to install High Sierra, but get a kernel panic when trying to apply the-darkvoids AppleHDA patch... Its a bit frustrating, because i've reinstalled macOs at least like 15 times right now and can't find out, what i'm doing wrong.
I'll try to explain as detailed as possible, what i'm doing right after the installation finished:

- Downloaded latest Clover installer from RehabMan
- (Installing location HDD)
- Selected "Install or UEFI booting only", "Install Clover in the ESP", "Install all RC scripts on all other bootable OSX volumes" "EmuVariableUefi-64"
- Draged all files from the-darkvoids repository from XPS9360-macOS-master/CLOVER to EFI/CLOVER
- run script XPS9350.sh --patch-hda
- run sudo kextcache -i /
-> reboot leads to kernel panic

Unfortunately, i don't know how to provide proper reporting files, since i'm not able to boot after applying the patch..

EDIT:
As it seems i'm not allowed to add the BIOS version to the signature (got banned :( ) - i'm currently on 2.5.1

I had your same problem, please read my post few pages back for a solution.

Agreed. Having owned the kaby-lake i7/16GB/4k model for over a year now, i personally think the best config for this form factor is the i7/16k/2k config. The 1080p screen is equally brilliant (once CABC is disabled), faster and significantly more power-efficient. Shame the wifi card is soldered onto the 9370 mainboard as this could be a really good macos unit, though the USB pin hack could potentially be a workaround. Despite Dell (and Apple's) best attempts to move to USB-C, there just isn't enough support at the moment. USB-A needs to be present, at least until the industry catches up...

I am stuck at the exact same issue right now... as soon as I run the provided script with with --patch-hda and reboot I get kernel panic. Only removing the kexts installed by the script would let me boot again.

You both aren't the first two to report this. At the moment I have no clue why --patch-hda would lead to a kernel panic.
Try removing CodecCommander.kext from /Library/Extensions and rebuild cache.

@the-darkvoid
I got the same kp with your HDA Patcher at the beginning, after that i had make my own patch with the Layout13.xml and Platforms.xml from the Bozma88 AppleHDA and that work great. Maybe the FHD en QHD variant don't use the same Layout ?

That works, but benchmarks results are bad. About 50% less O_O
If someone else can confirm.

I've seen, that there is already an issue on GitHub - but I didn't find a solution there.. Removing CodecCommander also didn't solve the problem

Changing the LayoutID didn't solve the problem either.

Make sure DVMT-prealloc is set correctly.
There is a patch in config.plist that seems to require DVMT-prealloc set to 96mb.

Now I feel a little stupid. Thanks! I followed the steps in the first post of this thread and didn't know that I have to change it to 96mb for the-darkvoids High Sierra repository..
I've now changed it to the maximum (192M) and I'm finally able to boot with working audio!

Almost any usb-c to HDMI adapter or cable should work, "alternate mode" is a functionality provided by the usb controller/motherboard, not by the cable.
For what is worth, mine is a generic-branded and cheap adapter branded "Choetech".
I finally purchased a usbc to hdmi cable although both my monitor and tv do not seem to work. I have also tried rebooting with the cable connected with no luck.

Other than that a perfect hackintosh. Any ideas?
