Hi @BoomR, I have recently completed my built, but I have a couple of problems ...

The configuration is very similar to yours:
- Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Ultra Gaming
- i7 8700K
- Corsair Vengeance 32Gb (2x 16Gb) 3200 MHz
- SSD Samsung 850 evo 1Tb
- Gigabyte Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt 3
- PCI Express (PCI-E) BCM943602CS Wi-Fi Bluetooth Combo card
- Evga SuperNova 650W G3
- Arctic liquid Freezer 240

here are my bios settings:
  1. MIT > Advanced Frequency Settings > Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P) - choose Profile 1
  2. BIOS
    1. CSM Support - Enable
    2. Fast boot: Disable
    3. LAN PXE Boot Option ROM: Disable
  3. Peripherals
    1. Initial Display Output: IGFX
    2. Trusted Computing > Security Device Support: Disable
    3. Network Stack Configuration > Network Stack: Disable
    4. USB Configuration > Legacy USB Support: Auto
    5. USB Configuration > XHCI Hand-off - set to Enable
    6. Note: Once Thunderbolt3 AIC is connected, a new dynamic menu option for configuring the Alpine Ridge card appears below the USB DAC option (which lets you set options for USB charging on the appropriate ports).
  4. Chipset
    1. VT-D - Disabled
    2. Internal Graphics - Enable
    3. Wake on LAN Enable - Disable
Kext: FakeSMC, IntelGraphicsFixup and Lilu

Problem 1:
Without OC my Geekbench is a bit low: about 6000 in SC and 26000 in MC. Why not 29000 like you? It's not a small difference...
I enabled PluginType in Clover, but I also tried with Piker Alpha's ssdtPRGen, but there was no difference.

Problem 2: [Solved: patch the apfs.efi file]
During startup under the Aorus logo, error messages appear regarding APFS, what is it due to? Can it be solved?

Any ideas?
I attach my Config.plist if it can help.

Ps. I'm working on an SSDT to enable the hotswap of Thunderbolt devices, if I succeed I will post a guide!

Excited to hear about the SSDT work!!! Now to your questions... I'm thinking there may be a few things contributing to the differences in our GB scores:
1 - I'm using a very high-end GPU (Gigabyte AORUS RX580 - AMD) - looks like you are using iGFX. Educated guess, but using iGFX vs. a dedicated GPU would have a noticeable effect on benchmark performance.
2 - I have significantly faster ram (20-25% faster, and probably better CAS scores, but just a guess), and twice as much RAM as you have. Again, this may also affect performance.
3 - I have not had time yet to try Piker Alpha's ssdtPRGen yet, so guess this is not a factor...??
4 - You are using Samsung 850 EVO SSD - I'm using Samsung 950 PRO m.2 SSD. Here's another area that would have a significant effect (disk read/write). EVO (econo line) vs. Pro (performance line), and standard SSD vs. m.2 PCIe is also a significant difference in performance.
5 - I think if you check most Golden Builds, and also many of the more recent popular [Success] User Builds, CSM is typically turned off (and/or also selecting "Other OS" option when available). I have CSM support disabled in my build. I would definitely check this option to see if there is some improvement.
6 - What version of UEFI/BIOS are you running? I'm on F7h. On BIOS menu, I don't have option for LAN PXE Boot Option ROM. I would also check to make sure you are running latest BIOS for your board (which I think is same as mine).
7 - I would also check Peripherals > Above 4G Decoding. I now have this set to Enable. See if that makes any differences.

BTW, I just re-ran my GB and it was within 100 points of what I originally posted. But now I have a bunch of other apps installed that do some background processing (HW Monitor, AVID account for ProTools, Display Menu, and Google Drive). I forgot to disable all of those before I ran GB, so maybe that's why I was about 90 points lower than what I posted. But not a big deal. When I get a chance I'll take a look at your config.plist .

That's all I can think of for now. Dive into some of these options & then let us know how you fare.

Thanks for your reply @BoomR!
In these days I have done other research and some tests. I got much better results..

By order:
1 - The integrated graphics are only temporary, I'm waiting for an Nvidia Quadro. I suspected the iGFX could reduce performance.
2 - I think that what makes a lot of difference is the use of 4 slots rather than the frequency (see below). I checked many builds and who has similar results to yours has 4 banks of Ram.
3 - Piker Alpha's ssdtPRGen has not led to any improvement, now I use PluginType in clover.
4 - Perfectly agree.
5 - I disabled the CSM support (I activated it to see if it made a difference but it creates problems)
6 - The version is the F7: LAN PXE Boot Option ROM is an option that appears if you enable CSM support.
7 - 4G decoding is active, but sometimes it creates problems at startup. I get a stop sign instead of the classic apple logo ...

With the OC I had some interesting results, but the curious thing is that the best results are obtained by setting the Ram at 3000MHz!

Geekbench:
With CPU @ 4.9GHz and Ram @ 3000MHz: 6467 SC - 30493 MC
With CPU @ 5.0 Ghz and Ram @ 3000MHz: 6526 SC - 30765 MC
Incredibly with CPU @ 4.9 or @ 5.0 and Ram @ 3200MHz the results drop much below 6000 points in SC and below 29000 in MC!

Currently I prefer to stay @ 4.9GHz and sleep quiet :)

The results with Cinebech instead do not have big differences if I change the speed of the Ram.

I have a question, is it possible to turn off the LEDs of the MB when you turn off the computer? The LEDs with the computer turned off are very annoying!

I have this same issue - I'm not sure what the solution is. :(

Hi

It’s a Bios option in power management.
It’s off when sleep or switched off on my Hackintosh.

The difference with yours is that i'm using AppleALC+lilu+codeccommander for Wake/Sleep. But sound from external speakers.
I need to use Darkwake=8 in Boot options.

But my Led is off during Sleep. (Bios F7)

Yello
