macOS 10.13.2 Supplemental Update

update to 10.13.2 initially stalled, after putting fakeSMC in the proper location it installed fine. however, audio broke. initially I had used the rehabman kext to enable audio in 10.13.1 (fakepciid and fakepciid hdmi). I ran the cloveralc script, caused system to not boot. I deleted rehabman kext, booted, no sound. then I thought I would try rerunning the script again. no boot. checked verbose shows something with realtek8111 driver (ethernet). replaced Realtek driver with one from working partition, also tried with multibeast driver. both will cause system to boot, but ethernet is broken.

another note is, when I duplicated driver with SuperDuper, didn't notice it copied my APFS file (old SSD) over to HFS+ (new SSD). would that cause issues since the files were built with APFS?

any help appreciated.

Hi to all !
After upgrading to High Sierra 10.13.2 everything works fine but App Store gives me the option to re-upgrade to macos High Sierra 10.13.2 Supplemental update. I tried to install it. My computer starts the procedure and after a few seconds restarts without ending the updating. Its restarts without hanging to the Clover Boot Manager. After booting everything still to work fine. I tried to downloading manually the updater and place it in the Applications folder. Trying again the results are the same.

Any ideas ?

Hello All,

After a lot of research and some frustration, I was able to apply the update. Here is what I did:

Removed my GTX 970, installed the update. Hung the first and second try because I didn't put fakesmc.kext in a folder named 10.13 in the EFI (Clover). Placing in the Other folder didn't work for me, so I installed the latest Clover, which added the 10.13 folder.

After the update, reinstalled the GTX 970, which resulted in crashing and boot loops. Booted to single user mode, removed all Nvidia driver files, still boot loops. Removed the GTX 970 and started some research.

I followed post 74 of this thread. I'd already installed the latest Nvidia driver (manually after downloading using the link from post 1 of this thread).

Reinstalled the GTX 970, still boot looping. Uninstalled the GTX 970.

Rebooted with Intel graphics, then set the Nvidia driver to use 'Default macOS Graphics Driver' as specified in post 76 of this thread.

Reinstalled the GTX 970 and was able to boot the system. Set the Nvidia driver to use 'Nvidia Web Driver' then rebooted the system. Good to go, save onboard sound not working, which I don't need. Sleep = OK, but I have to hit the keyboard twice to get the logon screen to display (starts up on first key pressed, won't activate display until second key pressed).

This post is fairly brief, but it took a lot of time to get where I am. I dealt with the 'printf' issue as well. Good luck to everyone, and don't be afraid to try hybrid approaches from the information in this thread.

Updated and restarted with no video card support... Had the Nvidia prompt come up to download latest Nvida drivers, downloaded, installed and update went smoothly with no broken audio.

NVIDIA Alternate Graphics Drivers
OMG, is that alternate graphics drivers means that the laptop's dual graphic cards which is like XPS 15 with gtx960m and intel hd530. Both cards could be used right now in 10.13.2? (Previously, the nvidia one couldn't be used since the exchange technology is not compatible with macOS, we can only use the Intel's card

In the Overview tap in about this Mac. Click your cursor on the Version Number, if it show (17C205) you are all good.

only your intel will work, unless you can disable intel in BIOS then you can use Nvidia but it may require a patched BIOS to do this
