Hello,

I apologize in advance if there is a very similar thread to mine already out there but had difficulty trying to find the answer I was looking for. I am wondering how should I update my OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 to 10.11 El Capitan/10.12 Sierra/10.13 High Sierra?
I wasn't exactly sure what would be the best way to update from OS X Yosemite to High Sierra directly so maybe I should just one by one (go from Yosemite to El Capitan and then to Sierra and then finally High Sierra).

I saw a general guide (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/direct-update-to-os-x-el-capitan-using-clover.172107/) on how to update from Yosemite to El Capitan but unfortunately I ran into a roadblock.
As I went to go download El Capitan from the App Store, it told me "This version of OS X 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer". After looking for a bit on this issue, it seems like it could be the system definitions on my laptop that is causing the issue (guessing). Currently, the model identifier is listed as MacBookPro8,1.
When I went to use the Multibeast tool for Yosemite to update the system definitions, there were no other MacBook Pro newer system definitions and eventually I read that I should update it to iMac14,2 for example to be able to install OS X Sierra for example though I guess that is meant for desktops and not for laptops? At the moment, I'm just a bit lost and am trying to figure out what to do here. Any help is appreciated!

Thank you!
