Strange behaviour with 8700 Quick Sync w/ GTx 1080 Ti

shikigva=36 (shikigva=32 + shikigva=4) may not suitable for your system, your board-id is Mac-FC02E91DDD3FA6A4 iMac 13,1.

Pls notice that shikigva=32 is required when SMBIOS does not has "forceBoostOff=YES" in AppleGVA info.plist (like iMac 18,3), if no board-id spec than default value is iMac 14,2.

Since my rented movie expired yesterday, I didn't have a way to test HDCP until I found that file from Applelife just now. To my surprise, current setup with shikigva=12 is working perfectly to a point. I can play that file on my hack using iTunes, but as soon as I connect ARD to it, the HDCP warning came out, so HDCP is working. Hardware accelerated encode and decode is working. The only down side is iTunes sometimes crash if I play a HDCP file, but if I am persistent enough, usually 3 - 4 reopen would stop the crash, I am going to try add 16 to shikigva=28 total see if it fix iTunes crash.

Another strange thing is that my P2715Q monitor wouldn't play HDCP if MST was off, yesterday; and had to be set to MST Secondary. But when I wanted to try HDCP just now by setting it back to MST off, HDCP still play... very strange.

Okay, great news! shikigva=28 solved everything! I'm posting my configs and files and hope this will help someone.

VDADecoderChecker: work!
MacX hardware acceleration: work!
FCPX & Compressor HEVC 8-bit encode: work!
IOVARendererID & SubID: present!
iTunes HDCP content: don't crash and work!

My main hurdles were
1. Make sure Lilu and dependents load, placing them in /L/E and added lilufriends.kext solved it
2. ig-platform-id must be correct
3. Find correct value for shikigva

MB: Gigabyte Aorus Z370 Gaming 3
CPU: iCore 7 8700
Graphics: Gigabyte Aorus GTx 1080 Ti Xtreme

macOS 10.13.2 w/ Supplemental Update
nVidiaWebDriver 378.10.10.10.25.104
Clover v2.4 r4330
BIOS Integrated Graphics set to enabled, DVMT 64MB, DVMT Max set to Max and Primary display PEG DP1
FakeSMC.kext 6.26-322-g1b20eab7.1765 in CLOVER/kext/Other

Files in /L/E
Lilu.kext 1.2.1
LiluFriends.kext 1.1.0
NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext 1.2.2

Please note that I've removed serial number, SMUUID and board-serial number from my config file.

Thanks for posting. We have similar rigs but I haven't been able to get HDCP working for iTunes. Will try some of your suggestions.

I'm curious, you enabled internal graphics and I've seen that suggested elsewhere. In my case, it hangs the system on boot. Did you have that problem?
 
Never had a problem enabling internal graphics, even with my previous rig which the nVidia web driver needed iGPU as the secondary Metal renderer. Maybe it's your ig-platform-id, try get that sort out first.

Good to know, thanks. I haven't changed the ig-platform-id settings...will do some research on it.
I think I'm closer to making it work. After updating Lilu and NvidiaFixUp, I don't get any HDCP warnings. But streaming videos remain black. The iTunes extras play normally.
 
Hi, I am trying to get my config working with HW encode/decode + QS but failing...Can you please suggest what I should do to enable this?
