pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Thank you for the help.

So I have copied the EFI Folder to the EFI Partition on the hard drive. Thanks to @dclive for the mention of the esp mounter pro.

Before getting into the sleep/wake issue, I have no clue what to do with the clover configurator. Could you give me some pointers? it all looks Chinese to me.

I am writing this message after already downloading programs, like FCPX, which runs perfectly. Also, the ethernet runs great and the usb c in the back of the motherboard as well.

What I noticed is that everytime I connect my time machine hard drive to a usb 3 in the back of the motherboard, the Bluetooth mouse starts to stutter (eventually disconnects) and the Bluetooth keyboard loses its connection. I am using a Bluetooth usb dongle. I guess this will be sorted when I get the airport you recommended.

Without the external drive of the time machine connected, all is well with bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

I have also been having wifi via a wifi usb adapter until the airport arrives.

Thank you

Open your EFI partition, go to /EFI/CLOVER/. Open your config.plist with Clover Configurator.

When it opens, enable PluginType by placing a check next to it:

See post #310 on this thread for instructions on how to set up USB properly using Clover Configurator. Since you will be using the internal M.2 slot for Wi-Fi, it you can just copy my settings.

In some cases USB 3 can interfere with Bluetooth. Do a search on Google for "usb3 bluetooth interference" and you will find quite a bit on the topic. I don't know how to resolve the issues you are having with the Bluetooth dongle other than to try and plug the dongle to one of your font USB ports.

I have never used any USB Wi-Fi adapters so I have no idea how well they work...

Edit:
The Bluetooth dongle and/or the Wi-Fi dongle along with its drivers could be the cause of your sleep problems.

Hi There,

Thanks for putting together such a detailed post. It's been very helpful with getting my 8700k setup going. I have been running into some issues though and I wonder if you could help me figure it out.

After seeing the success you were having with the parts you posted, I decided to more or less copy your build and get the same CPU and Motherboard although I'm using a 980ti instead of a 1080. I put together the computer, followed your instructions; BIOS settings, using Unibeast (current OS 10.13.2) to create the installer and replacing the EFI folder with the one you posted. This is where I run into problems...

I can't get the installer to boot with the EFI folder you posted. If I take out the GPU, use 1 stick of RAM, and use the EFI folder for the intel hd 630, then I am able to fully install OSX. Great :) Once in OSX, I replace the EFI folder on the HD with yours, install the NVIDIA web drivers, install the GPU restart the computer and then it starts to have issues. I screen starts to freeze in OSX and after I update the web driver, I can no longer launch into OSX. Any ideas? FYI, I can only use the NVIDIA web driver version 378.10.10.10.25.102 to install. All of the versions after that say that I don't have the correct version of OSX installed.

I'm feeling pretty stuck at the moment. Any help or tips you have would be great.

Find you exactly which version of macOS you have installed. Go to the upper left corner of the screen and click on the Apple logo then select "About This Mac". When the window opens, click on where it says "Version" and the build number will appear. We need to know which build you are on.

Also, have you made any changes to the config.plist? Are you absolutely positive that in BIOS, PCIE is set as your primary display? When you pull out the video card, that setting will change....

I didn't make any changes to the config.plist after getting the install. I only replaced the EFI folder on the Mac HD, then tried to install the NVIDIA drivers.

To get the install going I set the primary display in BIOS to CPU. After everything was installed and NVIDIA drivers were loaded, I restarted the machine, switched BIOS primary display to PCIE. I'm able to see the launch screen and BIOS settings via the GPU but when OSX tries to load, it crashes about half way through the loading bar.

I'm at work at the moment so I can't check the OS version. I can post that later. I believe I'm on either version 17C88 or 17C89. I get a request for OSX update after the install so it's definitely not the supplemental update versions of 17C205 or 17C2205.

When you say macOS crashes, what do you mean? Are you getting a kernel panic? Does the progress bar just stop moving? Is the screen going black?

What type of connector are you using to connect to your monitor? HDMI? DisplayPort?

The OS loading bar gets about half way, pauses for a bit, then the computer just restarts. There aren't any graphics or kernel panics, the computer just restarts.

I've been using DisplayPort to connect to the monitor.

Thanks for all of the quick replies!

Hmm... When you have time, try booting up in verbose mode and take a picture of where it stops...

When you launch Disk Utility, make sure to select "Show All Devices":

Although I've never encounter it, I've read about a few instance where some keyboards just refuse to work in macOS. The only thing I can suggest is to try different USB ports and/or different keyboard.
