I've been running a hack for ProTools for 4+ years, looking at upgrading. High Sierra isn't yet approved so it'll be Sierra. You can run hardware over thunderbolt but also PCI, which is what I'll likely do. Just wondering if anyone has the recommended CustoMac build running ProTools?

I7 7700k
GAZ270XP-XLI
EVGA GTX1060

That graphics card is the recommended one but I'm not seeing it in many actual builds on the forums, not sure why.

Thanks!

I'm also running Pro Tools (12.6) and UAD PCIe cards on an old MacPro 3,1 8-core Xeon and just pulled the trigger on my Hackintosh. For the MB, I decided on the GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 7 Gaming Motherboard LGA1151 Intel Z270 2-Way SLI ATX DDR4 Motherboard which has built-in Thunderbolt 3, and I've also purchased a FireWire card (Syba SY-PEX30016 3 Port Firewire 1394B & 1394A PCIe 1.1 x1 Card TI XIO2213B Chipset) to connect with my Digi 002 control surface. I'll be running the i7-7700K CPU.

Having Thunderbolt 3 available offers expandability for stuff like the UAD Apollo Twin MkII.

Good luck!
