Great idea I will work on that :)

Strange.... If I apply most of your ACPI Table on my X99 rig (the PC0x -> PCI0 and SL05 -> GFX1 patches are not required), forced sleep/wake works OoB without any related ssdt.aml... see post #838. Even the SSDT-XOSI.aml in fact is not required to achieve full forced sleep/wake compatibility.

However, when running your complete ACPI table on my X299 rig (with and without your SSDT-X299.aml), the system automatically and continuously wakes from sleep after a couple of minutes (TB EX 3 DISABLED)....

Are we missing something in the ACPI Table? What might go wrong on X299?

@RuleBreaker01

I have a new challenge for you :D

I was able to go up from 41000 to about 44500 points:

new%20score.jpg

Therefore I only had to delid my CPU:

IMG_0001.jpg

Put some liquid metal on the die:

IMG_0002.jpg

Fix the whole thing with silicon again:

IMG_0003.jpg

Put it back into the PC:

IMG_0005.jpg

And enjoy, how "cool" the new setup is (it is up to 20 degrees colder now):

IMG_0006.jpg

The cores run now with:

8 cores at 4.7 Ghz with 1.27V
2 cores at 4.8 Ghz with 1.27V

Temp max is about 85 degrees. In idle I am below 35 degrees. Really nice!

Do it on your own risk, though ;-)

That is a great news :D
It's a big pleasure to see someone who done this before me (on this forum) :p
BIG THX for sharing!

2 little questions:

1) Can you share BIOS details please...? :D

2) Did you used der8auer delidding tool or something else? :)

i BEG anyone to PLUG IN A USB 3.0 storage DEVICE and then run REMBER. please, i beg you, i cannot express this enough, tell me if you can get past the STUCK address test phase with a usb 3.0 storage device plugged in.

i'm on the brink of throwing this piece of 4000$ dollar crap out the window. and i'm serious about this. i've nailed down memory errors to the usb3.0 device being plugged in and i need to check if i'm sane.

""PLUG IN A USB 3.0 storage DEVICE and then run REMBER""

- I have done few tests with 2 different "USB 3.0" storage devices
(1 USB 3.0 external drive and 1x USB 3.0 PenDrive)
and 3 different USB 3.0 ports
REMBER Result: every time "Stuck address" passed without any problems ;)

Try to re-check your bios settings, then ports USB from your case
and internal USB connecting... if you have still the same problem, you should check your Configuration
or share your EFI... (but 1 ST ! - complete your PC details in your profile - it will be easier for you and others to help
without that, we will not ask you hundreds of times which mobo, cpu etc you have...)

Great choice! :D ( if you can't buy 7900x now because you have more PCIE lines..) :)

I think - on the place Wifi: D-link dwa-131 USB the better to choice is:
used by KGP and many others, for AirDrop support etc....

I use Scarlett 2i4 2nd generation (don't buy 1st gen)

and it works great but last few days I saw some interested options with better price if you need only phantom 48v power for MIC... but it's depend your work/destination... and your connected things... :)

I use FCPX and Logic but I don't know if new NVIDIA cards work great with new 10.13 OS X
because I sold my GTX 1070 and 1080 for new Vega 64, but I'm sure someone here use FCPX with Nvidia too
and he will confirm fonctionnality and his stability :)

Hi @mgregrs, thanks so much for your answer!

I can't spend more than 7800x :(, but, I think it will be enough for me, because, I'm only gonna use 16 lanes for Graphics and 4 lanes for the PCIe NVMe drive, I won't need any more.

I choose the D-link dwa-131 USB only because I already have it, and it works for now, but, if it give me problems, maybe I'll change it for the BCM94360CD in the future.

I'll buy the Scarlett 2i4 2nd generation, I won't buy the 1st gen, thanks for your advice ;)

I would suggest going with an ATI based CPU. nVidia Gave me and other users a lot of trouble. Select "inject ATI" in clover and it just works.

And you finally found a solution for your Nvidia Card? I'm really interested in this card because, I want to play games in windows as good as possible with my little budget. :|

thanks for your advice :)

That's true - it's much easier with ATI cards, but it's not the same performance like GTX 1080 or 1080Ti in Gaming :p
but if you choose Vega 56 you will have performance between GTX 1060-1070
and Vega 64 performance between GTX 1070-1080 on Windows gaming..
ATI have native support so... it's not easy to choose :p
In my opinion: If you make some professional work with your PC/Hackintosh
and some games sometimes - you should go with ATI card
or even 2x in the future :) but If you like OS X and you play a lot of Windows games (without pro projects) - Nvidia will be better choice... :p

I want to do professional work and some games sometimes, but GTX 1060 is cheaper and I have a limited budget.

Well.... your list implements several components which will not run OoB with this guide and might require some additional efforts at your side. I suppose your selection is budget related.

a.) So far I just know one user who decided to go for the ASUS Prime X299 instead of the ASUS Prime X299 Deluxe. @DSM2
might be able to provide you with his gathered experience. At least there might be differences in the ACPI Table and SSDT-X299.aml configuration for the primer board, once both implementations will be available along this guide.

b.) I also used the i7-7800X within my start-up configuration. Most significant drawback is the support of only 28 PCIe lanes, as
already stated by @mgregrs.

c.) Concerning the memory, please ensure that it is part of the ASUS memory specification list for the ASUS Prime X299... 2400
Mhz are again a cheap but not very sophisticated choice and option, which will further reduce the overall system performance!

d.) I don't want to enter the graphics card discussion. Just let me comment a few things. Most of the Radeon cards work by
means of Whatevergreen.kext support, others are natively implemented. However, up to my knowledge, the native support is yet somewhat rudimentary and lacks further sophistication. For a dual boot system with windows, ATI cards definitely would not be my choice, as ATI's windows support and performance cannot compete with Nvidia at all! Nvidia's Web Driver Implementation is somewhat tricky.. However, I think we found a well working solution to implement the latter GPUs and their Web Driver in macOS High Sierra 10.13 without further drawbacks or issues. The Web Driver is working flawless under 10.13. However, if you want to use your rig also under 10.12.6, I clearly advise against Nvidia GPU Solutions, although you might also face issues and problems with ATI graphics cards, natively implemented under 10.13!

e.) Concerning your second Drive I am not able to follow your decision to opt for a 1 TB SSHD implementation ! With respect to
1TB disk space, NVMes or SSDs are certainly the better choice!
f.) Again the D-link Wifi (+ Bluetooth?) implementation might be less costive. However you won't be happy with respect to
Airdrop, Hands-off, Continuity implementation or native keyboard support in Mainboard's BIOS or Clover Boot Manager. You will always need an additional cable keyboard to adjust BIOS settings or to boot different systems with Clover.
g.) For the i7-7800X, the Corsair H115i however seems fine and sufficient.

h.) Concerning your USB sound card, I do not have any experience at all with the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, but as @mgregrs uses
the some card although 2nd generation, he will certainly be able to help with it's system implementation...
Cheers,

KGP

Hi @kgp, thank you very much for your time :)

a.) I'll try to make work the ASUS Prime X299-A with this guide

b.) Like I said to @mgregrs, I think that 7800x processor will be enough for me, because, I'm only gonna use 16 lanes for Graphics and 4 lanes for the PCIe NVMe drive, I won't need any more and I can't afford it for now.

c.) Thank you very much for your advise in memory's Mhz, but it seems like the maximum velocity of i7-7800X is 2400, and ASUS Prime X299-A is compatible with 2400 memory's

d.) Ok, I'm gonna try with NVIDIA GTX-1060, thanks :D

e.) I'm only gonna use this 1 TB SSHD for games in windows, and I can't afford a better option :(

f.) I don't use Airdrop, but I didn't know that D-Link Wifi affects to BIOS and native keyboard support in Clover Boot Manager. If I use an usb keyboard, will I have some problem with this?

g.) Corsair H115i, perfect, thanks :)

h.) Thank you very much for giving me all this valuable information :shifty:

I only can to afford something like this, Now I have a 2,4 GHz Quad-Core, 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, GeForce 8600 GT 512, 1TB SATA... I think I'm gonna feel some difference, don't you think?

Thank you again for your time, I really appreciate it :)

Dude, you wouldn't believe the amount of time and effort i've spent on diagnosing this
Can you please do one more pass, but at the same time start a huge copy operation to the usb drive?
In short, i have the issue only in uefi mode, not in csm, and only when a usb3 drive s present. This is some ducked up memory allocation by the bios of my tuf mark 1 and i have a hunch this is specific to this motherduckingboard
The errors strangely always end at addresses with the same last three digits - d30
This is not cpu/ram/psu/connectors/bios settings other than csm legacy boot related.
Please don't waste your time trying to help other than just doing this one specific test.
Don't get me wrong, i'm very grateful that you replied and spent your time, it's just that i'm in hackintoshing for 6 years and for 22 years with computers. Real A grade gurus including slice have no explanation and cannot help other than theoretically for they lack a cpu of this socket, not to mention this specific goddamn motherboard.

Just do one more test for me, please. Thanks.

"Don't get me wrong" - but it can be simple as **** :D

A) If it don't works on Windows -> go to Asus forum/support etc... (because I'm sure you tried all bios options etc... and you checked all other stuff witch can make some problems...)

B) If you problem is only with OS X -> you have problem with your config...
so you have to starts all again, make a research or new thread on that forum and the others...

C*) "Hardware **** happens" sometimes
I had a lot of times "new IT parts" with some fabrication defects...

After so many years you should know - even with a huge experience you can missed something...
and some newbie can find solution for you... and it's OK, but the problem is .... your explanation,
without all Hardware details and all tests/diagnostics done before...

In my opinion.. this is even not a good thread to continue that, it's ok to ask, sure
but for TUF Mark 1 USB problems or even TUF Mark 10.13 xyz... your kind of problem - should be separated.
Maybe I'm wrong... I think - our Chef @kgp should decide.

PS: Don't forget "our first 10 years of IT experience - "today" are only "good old times", our good memories, without real value in actual IT world ;)

Have a nice day!

I have to correct you in two things where you are totally wrong!

1.) The i7-7800X has a turbo boost of 4 Ghz and is indeed very well able to run at 4 Ghz without any OC!

2.) I used the Tridentz DDR-4 3200 Mhz and was running the latter DDR4 indeed also with 3200 Mhz in line with the i7-7800X. A
2400 MHz DDR4 will further hamper your overall system performance, but if your budget does not allow to go for faster DDR4, I guess there are no means against..
3.) And yes, no BIOS or Clover keyboard support with the D-Link Wifi.. You won't be able to use the keyboard at all for the latter...
By the way, where are your from? In Spanish, I would write patata fresquita like that...:lol:
