Hi there everyone. I am now on High Sierra with the GTX 1070. I use a lot FCPX for video editing.

Would an upgrade to the RX570 give me significant advantages? Also, my system is setup as 18.1 iMac. Would I have to change that?

I have seen a lot of information saying that the RX580 works almost out of the box and that performance is 6-7 better than even then GTX 1080.

Thanks a lot for your input.

From my experience the Nvidia web drivers are still buggy. Random slowdowns, a few crashes here and there, occasional black screens when waking up from sleep, etc. I just switched from a GTX 1060 to an RX Vega and it's amazing how much more stable my system is. I would absolutely go for an AMD card over an Nvidia card if I was you.

The Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB graphics card works OOB in 10.12.6 and High Sierra as it is the card in the Apple Developers eGPU which Apple sells to developers. Uses native macOS drivers. Use Clover v4397 v4297 or newer and the MultiBeast v10.1.0 configuration option:
Customize > Graphics Configuration > AMD Graphics Fixup <--- see page 7,
MultiBeast v10.1.0 Features document

I’m running the rx580 in my build, working flawlessly out of the box

What card are you running? I have been toying with getting the RX580 for my build as well. Just been trying to figure out if there are certain cards/brands that are better. Thank you Stork for the recommendation too! (would love to get Vega but out of my budget... )

Does it show as GFX0 in IOReg without any SSDT fix ?

Don't know...I haven't looked since it works natively. However, I'll look later today when I get chance.

(I'm a believer in the philosophy of "don't fix it if it ain't broken." :D)

yeah great philosophy, anyways it would be nice to know :) The RX560 works also with just RadeonDeInit but it doesnt show up as GFX , just as generic Display (without ssdt-patch)

Without some kind of renaming it will never show up as GFX0 in IOREG as most discrete cards are named as PEGP in native DSDT/SSDT tables. Hence the generic Display, as macOS doesn't know what PEGP is. Without DSDT/SSDT fixes the IGPU will come under GFX0 usually.
