[NEW / TESTING] Intel 7th Generation Kaby Lake CPUs + 200 Series Motherboards in macOS

Status
Not open for further replies.
Principal components:
MSI Z270 Gaming Pro - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z270-GAMING-PRO/Specification
Intel i7 7700k
MSI GTX 1080
Samsung EVO 850 SATA
16 GB = 2x Ballistix Sport LT 8GB DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DR x8 DIMM 288-Pin - BLS8G4D240FSC
Onboard sound?!
...
What doesn't work so far:
Nvidia Webdriver can't be activated (switches back to OSX default)
Ethernet
Audio
...
You need to use MultiBeast v9.2.1 to install your drivers/kexts. For keeping the Nvidia drivers active across (re)boots, use the MultiBeast option:
Bootloaders > Clover v2.4k r4173 UEFI Boot Mode + Emulated NVRAM

If you did use MultiBeast after installing Sierra, then run it again using the about Bootloader option and your audio selections. See the 2nd paragraph in the Please Note section of the MultiBeast v9.2 announcement.

If I only knew which knot & bolts to twist.
To tell you the truth, I haven't used many knots & bolts myself. At the start of my 1st hackintosh I had great problems getting it 100% to work. But my system has been stable from OSX Lion. What I did:

1. Find out the precise specs;
2. Follow the installation guides precisely (BIOS settings!)
3. Search for similar builds (in your case, for instance: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...corsair-rgb-16gb-ram-geforce-gtx-1080.228994/)

I have only started using CC with my - so far failing - attempt with my "poor mans hackintosh". But that allowed me to look at my main hackintosh as well and learn a bit from that. Important sections for that hackintosh are:

- Boot
- GUI
- Kernel and Kext Patches
- RT Variables
- SMBIOS

And tools

- Mount EFI
- Install Drivers
- System Parameters

(The entire Clover setup was done with Multibeast, as Stork mentioned. But with CC I could mount the EFI partition and look at the results of Multibeast's work.)

The link above seems an excellent description. It also has attached a config.plist, which should be a help to you too.

(My absolute brilliance showed in declaring my hackintosh an iMac14,2 after seeing that someone did the same with the same specs. That solved every problem.)

If you are referring to the menu bar glitch (AAPL,YTile related), that was fixed sometime in 10.12 timeframe.
Is that what you're referring to?
Or do you have some other glitch?

Hi @RehabMan

I'm having a problem while booting. I've attached my clover file as well as a screenshot of the error I'm getting.

Setup:
-gigabyte z270x-ultra gaming
-i7-7700k
-1070ti

Not sure if there's anything you could do to help but if there is id really appreciate any suggestions you could give.

Thanks,
Luke

Remove IONVMeFamily.kext from Clover/kexts/Other.
Same for GenericUSBXHCI.kext.
Then choose one Ethernet kext that matches your hardware.
FakeSMC.kext is not the current build.

Also, it seems you're not booting with the EFI/Clover you attached.
The config.plist/Boot/Arguments in the attachment reads:
-v dart=0 darkwake=0 npci=0x2000 nvda_drv=1 nv_disable=1 cpus=1 kext-dev-mode=1 UseKernelCashe=Yes
(a bit of a mess)
But that is not what is shown in the KP.

Hey @RehabMan,

I have the same setup as @lttroast and a wierd kernel panic boot issue.
Since the components are all recommended for CustoMac everything worked fine with my first try. Now, after I messed it up, I can't even boot and reinstall from the unibeast usb drive, even with everything reset and done like the first time.

Please look at my verbose log and tell me what I try to do.

Here is the original post I started:

Thank you, Matthias
