Hi All

My build

i5 6500
Intel HD 530
MSI H110m Gaming
8 GB memory

Upgraded from Sierra all working

However now boot time takes up to 3 to 4 minutes when with Sierra was 20secs

No error it boots up normally

At boot there is two option

Boot Mac from OSX (OSX is the name of my SSD)
Something else called preboot

Sleep doesn't work on Sierra and same on High Sierra for HD 530 problem is still unsolved

Thanks

Turning off TRIM, if enabled, may help.

Yes I just read that now on a post, thanks a lot but how do I disable and I do I know from where to disable that?

In config.plist remove or disable 'TRIM for non-Apple SSDs' uninstall 'TRIM enabler' kexts. Run 'trimforce disable' or remove AppleDatasetManagement.kext from S/L/E. Basically steps for enabling TRIM, in reverse.

Thanks I have done this:

sudo trimforce disable

no difference upon reboot it took 4 minutes to boot

Using Samsung EVO 250GB was booting in 20s before what a crap now

Can I just re-upgrade against the same HighSierra but switching back to HFS filesystem?

So from High Sierra follow up with the same instructions that I used to upgrade from Sierra to High Sierra but using the method of HFS FS

Thanks

Unless you previously used 'trimforce' to enable trim, there will be no change. Re HFS+, don't think there are any tools to convert an APFS volume to HFS+, disabling trim would be easier.

However you can copy your files to an HFS+ volume and make it bootable. Carbon copy cloner can do this pretty much automagically.

If you then want to use the current volume you can then erase the currently APFS container partition in the 10.13 version of disk utility (as HFS+) and repeat the copy/bless process back to the original device.
