Stork's MyHero Build: ASUS ROG Z170 MAXIMUS VIII HERO - i7-6700K - GTX 980

Hello!

I have recently updated my Maximus VIII Hero BIOS to version 3504, and I don't know what I have done but I can't enter Clover Interface.
  1. First step made was to updated Clover to last version including EmuVaribleEUFI64.efi to solve NVRAM issue.
  2. Then upgrade BIOS.
  3. Afterwards, boot into the BIOS, and make the change (as suggested in post 1):
    • USB Configuration > Keyboard and Mouse Simulation > Disabled
  4. Reboot.... but BIOS does not detect EFI partition and so can not launch Clover

So I take my UniBeast USB Thumb Drive and enter to my OS X via USB EFI. No problem there.
And then make the following
  1. Download MultiBeast 9.2.0
  2. Install Bootloaders > Clover v2.4k r4063 UEFI Boot Mode + Emulated NVRAM.
  3. Reboot
But still no achieving to get into Clover interface.
Can anyone help me.

I was successfully using Sierra 10.12.6.

For those of you who are contemplating upgrading your HERO to High Sierra when it's released sometime today, I recommend you wait until 10.13.3 is released. I know, I know, but Apple's new file system (APFS) in High Sierra is new and still probably has some bugs which is why I recommend you stay with Sierra 10.12.6 until 10.13.3 is released and you have done your due diligence and have confidence that APFS will not lose your important data.

If you decide to be an early adaptor, back up your Sierra system with Carbon Copy Cloner v5 (CCC is well worth the cost). Then, make sure you back up important data to a HDD since APFS won't be implemented on HDDs at this time.

Will I upgrade to High Sierra 10.13.0? Yes, only on Gene to test High Sierra's compatibility with the M.2 NVMe SSD that I bought especially for helping tonymacx86 in testing the upcoming guides and Beasts. I'll disconnect the other drives as a precaution. MyHero's production use will still be on Sierra 10.12.6 for the meantime.

Hi Stork,
Thanks for your advice.
Will you provide us a update-guide for your Gene-Build?
Could be useful for others who followed your Hero-Guide (and me too :) ) to have something like a blueprint to get high Sierra also working on your Hero-Build.

Thanks in advance

I waiting until at least .3 release. There are no Nvidia 10XX drivers yet, correct?

No Nvidia drivers, yet. But, checking hourly. Someone will find it probably before I do, but tonymacx86 will post a new thread in the Graphics forum section when Nvidia releases the HS drivers.

Hey Stork or anyone who is hardware savvy. I'm having some ram issues, and I have a question.

A little background about whats going on:
So after having crashing issues, kernel panic, sleep from wake fails. I was tweaking things last week and today started runnining memtest and after about an hour I already have 251 Errors so its looking like I'm going to have to replace the ram.

I had upped the voltage to the ram from 1.35 to 1.4, while there were less kernel panics, all my applications were constantly crashing, and watching activity monitor it was strange how whatever app I was using would just start taking up a lot of ram, then crash looking like a memory leak, chrome, safari, atom. whatever.
------
This is the ram in question

Somewhere in this thread there was a PDF of RAMs that were supported. seemed the exact model I had wasn't on there, but similar ones were.

I was under the assumption that RAM is RAM and it just needs to work with your motherboard and you should be good to go. Is this not the case for hackintosh's? Macs support this type of DDR4 so is speed and timing that much of an issue? I would think memtest doesn't care and the fact that its failing means it's defective.

Is it possible that running the hackintosh has messed up the RAM? That seems Highly unlikely to me...

Since I need to get back to work pretty quickly. So I'm thinking, buy 16 gigs of the same again, RMA the current, then have 32gig when the RMA get back...

Or should I just buy a completely different RAM? At a speed like 2133 or something found in macs?

Thanks

The link to ASUS' HERO Memory Qualified Vendors List is in Post #1 where I talk about the memory I chose for this build. Memory integration is more important with respect to the motherboard than any other consideration; as far as Hackintosh is concern, if it works with the motherboard, it will work with the hackintosh.

An no, the macOS can't damage the memory.

I'm hearing that 10.13 doesn't require NVMe patches from @RehabMan, is this truly the case now?

Hm, from looking at @RehabMan's repository for NVMe, I see some things being added for 10.13. How can we test our NVMe cards to see if they still require the patched kext or not?

I installed HS GM version on Gene which uses a Samsung 950 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD. I removed all other disks and did a fresh install successfully.

RehabMan's note for 10.13 is if you are installing over Sierra (10.12) which uses RehabMan's Spoofing technique.
