Hello all!

First post on this forum from a lurker that has found many helpful tips regarding running Mac! I have successfully installed Sierra 10.12.6 onto my x220 and in general everything seems to be working fine but I wanted a little more 'muscle' in the system so I picked up an EXP GDC Expresscard Graphics dock and a 750ti.

I have followed the usual advice of installing the appropriate web drivers, modifying the config.plist to set the NvidiaWeb flag to 'YES', the injectNvidia flag to 'YES and InjectIntel to 'NO' which is allowing Mac to boot and be stable... however the system still appears to be utilising the integrated intel HD3000 graphics rather than using the 750ti.

On the 'About This Mac' screen, the integrated HD3000 graphics show beside graphics. The 750ti is recognized in the system report but performance in games and other graphics based applications has not improved, also a Monitor I have connected to the 750ti is not being recognized (I am aware that 750ti's and HDMI outputs have issues on Mac OS however I would imagine that there would still be some graphics acceleration on the laptop's screen anyway if the 750ti was being utilized?)

I appreciate that my setup is possibly a little obscure however after trying the same setup in ElementaryOS I have found that it does just work therefore I believe I may be missing a setting or something somewhere in Mac OS. Clover also recognizes the graphics card just fine when looking in the boot options.

Is there anything I am missing? unfortunately the x220 BIOS does not seem to allow the disabling of the integrated graphics... and I assume the presence of the integrated graphics is the possible cause of the issue.

Any advice or tips would be absolutely wonderful! If you need any more information please let me know!
Thanks in advance!
Mike.

If you're trying to use the Nvidia web drivers, config.plist/Graphics/Inject/NVidia should be false.

The system errors at the boot screen if I do not have inject Nvidia enabled. Would a screenshot of the text that appears beside the apple logo be helpful? Thanks.

I do apologise! Please see attached, hope this is of use! Thanks

Here's my EFI/Clover folder also.

No ACPI/origin provided (because you deleted it). Also misc/preboot is missing.
Re-create EFI/Clover/ACPI/origin, then read 'Problem Reporting' again.

Note: MacBookPro8,1 does not have dual GPU. Panic is in NVidia kext. Your config.plist shows Inject/NVidia=true.

Hello,
ACPI/Origin is there now and so is misc/preboot.

Is it simply not possible to get an external GPU working via express card in Mac OS?

Thanks for the help, apologies for the missing info!
