Hi, I've followed this guide from start to finish, but I'm getting nowhere with installing El Capitan:

I've attached the screenshots when booting it in Verbose mode.

According to the video I've been following along for help, he's installing the graphics card at the end. So, currently, I don't have an installed graphics card. Is that part of the issue?

This is my first hackintosh build, so I'd really appreciate the help I can get before giving up and installing windows.

Thanks

@AndreasEidhagen, please update your profile (personal details) with your Motherboard or Make/Model, CPU and Graphics Card.
The Rules said:
Profiles need to contain at least your primary system to assist others with helping you.

Sorry about that and thanks for pointing it out, I've updated my info, here's a list of the components I'm using.

Gigabyte z170 gaming k3
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) 2400MHz / DDR4
Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake Processor
Corsair Hydro Series H55 CPU Kylare
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce OC (not installed yet)
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W PSU
Corsair Carbide 330R Blackout Edition

It seems like the motherboard only reads one of my two memory sticks (so 1x16gb instead of 2x16 gb). Not sure if that has anything to do with it or if that says something about the motherboard being faulty?

If only one RAM stick is detected, and you are sure that they have been installed securely, perhaps you should check whether the other RAM stick is faulty, or if one or more of the RAM slots of your motherboard are faulty.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Turns out it was two different problems, I followed the video instructions but should have followed the sierra install guide, there was a bios settings that I had missed. That sorted out the boot issue.

Luckily, the RAM was just a bad memory, changed it and now it's running on 32gb so not a motherboard issue.

Hi AndreasEidhagen

I am about to embark on exactly this build, following the same video. Please could you elaborate on following the Sierra install guide? What do I need to do to also get a successful installation? Also, are you getting sleep/wake issues with Sierra or El capitan? I have heard that can be a problem when using AMD graphics. Thanks

Hey, overall the video works well but what was missing from the video is that you need to check the bios settings towards this list:

1. To access BIOS/UEFI Setup, press and hold Delete on a USB Keyboard while the system is booting up
2. Load Optimized Defaults
3. If your CPU supports VT-d, disable it
4. If your system has CFG-Lock, disable it
5. If your system has Secure Boot Mode, disable it
6. Set OS Type to Other OS
7. If your system has IO SerialPort, disable it
8. Set XHCI Handoff to Enabled
9. If you have a 6 series or x58 system with AWARD BIOS, disable USB 3.0
10. Save and exit.

I think it was either the IO serial port or xhci handoff or some other setting that was missing from the video. After that sierra worked perfectly. I haven't had any sleep issues but I'm using a Nvidia 1080 gtx card, had issues installing at first but sorted it out later. I wouldn't recommend setting multibeast to imac 17,1 as in the video, I used 14,2 second time i installed it and then it worked fine.
