iCloud INACTIVE in a couple of apps

Hey folks. I appreciate the help I've received so far in getting all of this up and running. I've discovered a couple of new issues.

iCloud works fine as far as the app and saving docs, etc. However, in both Mail and Messages, iCloud is showing as inactive. I've tried logging out and back in, etc. No joy. I clicked on the 'Enable this account' in the mail app as shown in the picture. It flashes a checkbox and then goes back to how it shows in the picture.

Can anyone help me? Am I expecting too much from this? Running Sierra 10.12.6

My apologies. I've read the rules. I missed the 'at least' part. (although, re-reading it now I realize it didn't matter. Should've waited 24 hours) Won't happen again.. Was just getting ready to head out for the day so I thought I'd bump this and another one. I'll make sure not to do this again.
