I tried iMac18,3 again with the latest USBInjectAll.kext (version 0.6.2) and all my issues have been resolved.

Update:

Running great:

Ok, don't laugh — I haven't had to pause an Apple system to read boot/bios messages for eons. I'm getting a couple of screens full from my build. How do I pause and/or capture them?

Are you talking about the macOS verbose mode boot messages?

If yes, I don't know of any way to slow them down to read them or capture them. Others have attempted to video the process and view them in slo-mo.

I don't have verbose mode set for boot. The message I got was a panic message during macOS loading. I took a picture and Ive transcribed what I think are the key aspects into the attached document (PDF), which also has the key configuration settings for my build.

The error message seems to be pointing at an unsupported CPU for the FakeSMC sensors.

I think part of my problem is that I have jumped straight to a 10.12.6 build, modifying the guide steps as necessary, and going straight to iMac18,3. Also, I was hoping I could do an initial build without an SSDT.

Can I generate an SSDT on my standard iMac, which has a different CPU? Or, can I do the SSDT get during the Part 2 install?

Did you install the latest versions of Clover and FakeSMC? Did you try to use FakeCPUID to get through the installation?

You can always start with iMac14,2 system definition and switch to iMac18,3 once everything is up and running.

Don't use a different computer to generate the SSDT file unless the CPU in the other computer is the same model and running at the same clock speeds. You can run generate it after the system is up and running.

Many thanks, Pastrychef. I did use the latest Clover, but as FakeSMC was part of the MultiBeast package, I didn't check that. I see FakeSMC itself is up to build 1759.

I'll give it another go with the steps you recommend.

Since you have access to a real Mac, it can make things much easier. You can pull the hackintosh startup drive and make changes to the EFI folder on the real Mac.

Also, remember that if you use iMac18,3 system definition, you MUST use the newest version of USBInjectAll.kext.

Nvidia finally released their web drivers for Sierra 10.12.6 and I upgraded macOS immediately.

In Clover Configurator:
  • Devices section, delete AAPLGfxyTile. It's no longer needed.
  • Kernel and Kext Patches section, delete AppleIntelSKLGraphicsFrameBuffer since we are no longer using it.
Does this apply only to an Intel Kaby Lake CPU on 10.12.6?

I think I still need AppleIntelSKLGraphicsFrameBuffer.

My desktop is on Skylake i3 6300, Intel Graphics HD530, no Nvidia Cards, iMac17,1 system definition. Lilu.kext and IntelGraphicsFixup.kext work great on 10.12.5 to prevent the black screen with system definition iMac17,1. Getting ready to update to 10.12.6.

Yes, that was for Kaby Lake only.

For Skylake, you shouldn't need to make any changes. Just be sure to have the latest Clover installed.

Perfect. Thanks.
