[SOLVED] UniBeast doesn't recognize Sierra

Don't know. Perhaps they changed the supported hardware at 10.12.4
how did you download Sierra earlier? on what hardware and on what site?

I downloaded Sierra on my computer hard drive, in my apartment, from the internet,
by navigating to the update teaser in the god damn App Store.

Correct me if I'm wrong: Since it's not possible to purchase El Capitan on the App Store, and the App Store won't let me download the latest version of Sierra to a 2010 MacBook, I'm going to have to use somebody else's computer to make the installer.

you may be able to get El Capitan from here:

Thanks. I'm trying that instead (it's midnight here, no other Macs around).

I was able to create an El Capitan install drive with UniBeast 6.2.

Encouraged by that, I retried making a Sierra install drive, and that succeeded as well (apparently it can take up to half an hour on an old MacBook).

Now I'm having trouble convincing the PC that it's a bootable stick, which I think might be due to only having USB 3.0/3.1 ports.

Marking thread as solved, thanks.

As of January 2020, this link now downloads the .dmg version of the installer, which will not work with Unibeast.

I've been through a lot of searching to find how to get the .app versions from El Capitan onwards (I'm only now updating from Mavericks!) - turns out it's from the 'Building a CustoMac buyer's guide'! As it took me ages to find this out, I thought posting the link here might help someone at some point:

Under 'Operating Systems' :)
