TLDR I was trying to adjust my smbios so my system wasn't recognized as MacPro 3.1. I followed the https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-how-to-configure-your-systems-smbios-correctly.198155/ guide, in theory, but when I restarted I got stuck in a boot loop with kernel panic. Attempted to google the issue, but in the meantime after 3-4 restarts, my computer now gets stuck at the motherboard splash screen with no response to button presses or holds upon startup.

My video card is unplugged and my keyboard is plugged into USB 2.0, both things that probably have little to no effect on the issue, but I have read are issues in other circumstances.

I would even be willing to reinstall the OS, but I can't get to a screen to even load a flash drive to boot. Any suggestions for steps I could take to get past hurdle #1 so I can deal with any number of future issues?
Thanks

Mac Pro 3,1 is incorrect for your hardware. Use iMac 14,2. Stuck at BIOS Splash screen most likely caused by hardware problem i.e Hard Drives, SSDs, Faulty motherboard etc.

Through the sophisticated process of unplugging and replugging things, I have managed to get back to being able to get to the clover boot screen. Now my problem is kernel panic, which I have to assume is caused by my unsuccessful SMBios update. Is there a way to revert the settings or change the necessary settings in the bootloader so I can start up and then use configurator to fix the rest of the problem?

Boot using a Pen Drive attach config.

Sorry to seem dense(I am), but is there a way to load just clover and/or a config.plist onto a drive and boot from that or do I need to make a new install thumb drive?

I really am looking these things up before I ask, but sifting through information I only kind of understand piled with information that I don't understand at all is not making it easy to find solutions.

Use your existing Unibeast Boot stick.

Thanks for answering my dumb questions. I'm sure nothing can go wrong from here!

I made a new unibeast boot stick. When I try to load from it in verbose mode I run into an athr: unknown locale: 14 issue. Supposedly the issue is solved by following the guide here:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...-of-the-athr-unknown-locale-21-errors.148852/

However, updating the EFI-backups config.plist along the terms of the post doesn't seem to work, and I can't find any other way around this. I am currently trying to just install fresh on a blank SSD, still same problem.
