Hey all!

So I picked up a Powermac G4 Quicksilver off the side of the road the other day in really good condition. I'm really keen to gut it and build a hackintosh inside!

I was looking through the buyer's guide, and from what I've read the CustoMac mATX build seems like it would be the way to go for a G4 mod. Am I right in thinking that? Or am I better off following something like psycho_rocker's hackintosh build to be 100% sure it will all fit and work fine? The other option would be to look through a range of builds on the forum and pick and choose the cheapest/best functioning parts - but I worry that some of these may not work well together for a hackintosh system, and I would have no idea until I had bought them and something went wrong.

I am a complete beginner, and ideally I would like to keep it as budget as possible while still having a decent setup, so just looking for some advice on where to start really!

Thanks in advance

I'd say look through a bunch of the builds that people have done here to get a feel for what it's like. You'll need to do some cutting of some frames and other bits, so make sure you've got a little bit of practice with a dremel or something similar before you start on yours.

Good luck!

Thanks heaps ShatteredAvenger!

Not sure if you know, but is it a good idea to just follow some elses mod completely, or should it be fine to choose some different parts as long as they are hackintosh compatible?

I cannot stress this enough but research, research, research then measure, measure again, measure again and measure again. But if you have any specific questions just ask, someone is bound to reply.
