I'm a bit stumped on this one. I was trying to bring an old box back to life (Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H) which had been running 10.11 as the latest OS. It's back together with a mish-mash of parts and replacing my wife's seldom-used desktop (which was an old Core2Duo). I figured this would be easy since I know it's hackintosh-able.

I downloaded the latest UniBeast, my copy of 10.12, and made my boot media on a well-tested SanDisk key that I was just using for some Acronis testing. It boots fine on my current hardware. It does boot on the old box, but everything is in slow motion. From "Loading OS..." to a black screen with some text in the center with the version of Clover stated (4047?) is about 5 minutes. From there to the screen where you can select which drive to boot off of, that's about 15 minutes. Booting off the USB is about 15 minutes. This is making any actual troubleshooting quite difficult. I've tried the front USB ports as well as the rear (onboard), no difference.

What can I look at here? What settings other than legacy (which I'm using) vs. EFI could have an effect on Clover so early in the boot process?

The latest version(s) of Clover are extremely slow to boot when using Legacy mode.

You can try to replace the version of Clover on your UniBeast stick with an older version.

Can you give me an idea of just how old a version I should be trying? A few months? A year?

Ugh. Very weird. I tried two 2.3 versions, the older being v2.3 revision 3333. Still very slow, and on these older versions can't boot 10.12. Of note, in all these periods where the UI is not doing anything, the USB stick is being accessed - the activity LED flickers the entire time. No idea what it's doing though.

Maybe I'll see if for install purposes I can go back to the last known good OS on this, 10.10. Not sure how to convince the app store to let me download older versions, but will try. It's all very frustrating, as I know the hardware worked in the past.

Check that Debug / Log is not enabled in your config.plist as this writes a log file which slows down the boot process considerably.
