Hi.
On sierra u can easy create/delete your Raid system with disk utility.
Who needs Raid ?
For normal use, a SSD Raid system is not necessarily.
With two HDD, a Raid 0 will boost your system, because now it can read and write at the same time.
If you work with large files, like video rendering, a SSD Raid0 will speed up the process extremely.

I´m working with large audio and video files, thats why im using two Samsung 850evo 500GB as a 1TB Raid0 system partition.
I know if one disk failed, all data is lost, but i continuously make backups ;)

To get your maximum speed, the chunk (block) size of the Raid system is importantly.
On normal HDD Raid 0, 128k chunk size was the best for me, but now im on SSD and not sure about the right chunk size...

So i did a litte benchmark with Blackmagic Disk Speed Test with all available chunk sizes to answer the final question:
My Hack: Gigabyte z87x-udh4, i7 4790k running on 4,0 ghz, 16GB RAM, geforce gtx 970.

Single Benchmarks:

840 pro 256 GB (using for Windows 10)

850 evo 500GB

Now 2x Samsung 850 evo 500GB as 1TB Raid 0:

32k

64k

128k

256k

_______

Not a dramatic difference, except 32k and 256k are the worst on my system.

so, smaller chunk size = faster read, higher chunk size = faster write.

32k and 256k performs bad, i don't know why but it was and felt slower.

128k looks like the perfect match for me !

About Trim:
I can enable Trim (trim force) and both SSD have Trim activated, but i heard trim does not work under raid 0.

I don´t know why, but I took 4 SSD and made a software raid 0 with two 850 evo (500GB) and two 840 pro (256GB) = 1,2 TB Raid on 128k chunk size this is the result:

Ah great thanks!

Planning on building a new Hack for Video/MoGraph soon. Just ordered the parts, planning on using 2X 3TB WD Red's for a RAID 0 as project disk. 2 Evo 850 SSD's: one for system, one for scratch. However...I think a hardware RAID card might boost it better than software RAID.
