This is to do with the most recent graphics driver I think. I upgraded today to NVIDIA's Webdriver 378.05.05.05f02 when it was prompted by my computer and iTunes works fine now (when you download the video).

Black Screen in Itunes and VLC (virtual machine)

I write this post because i dont find any solution for that issues.
I think maybe somone in this forum can help me. Thanks

In my running Os (Sierra) on VMWare 12.5 i cant play movies.

In Itunes movies dont start.
In VLC only the sound from the movie works.
In quicktime player works audio and video correct.
What can i do that movies works also in Itunes and VLC?
Thanks and Cheers

OP did not work for me.

With my system, do I also need to remove the AppleIntelHD3000GraphicsVA.kext file, OR, do I remove the AppleIntelHDGraphicsVA.kext file? Or none of those?

Any other thoughts?

I have the problem that iTunes movies stopped playing one or more updates ago. The dreaded black screen and nothing goes. I tried the terminal commands on page one, new Shiki (and Lilu), nothing works. Anybody any idea on how to fix this?

Is there a new version available of the iMac-"KEXT" or is it something else?

If you've never had to do this I am not sure if this tip will work but it's worth a try.
Go to System/Library/Extensions and delete this kext 'AppleIntelHD3000GraphicsVADriver.bundle' - (keep it in the recycle bin just incase this does not work and you need to put it back).
Repair Permissions -> Reboot and see if you can play movies in iTunes. Good luck

Thanks for your assistance, but this wouldn't work for me, since I'm running on a GTX970. When I was still using the HD530, I actually tried removing the Intel KEXT's, but to no avail. I got it working with a modified iMac.kext and an older version of Shiki. But since the new updates came out, this solution has stopped working and I'm back to square one.

My issue was resolved when I installed an nVidia 1070 FTW2 card - iTunes plays DRM content now.

Funny thing is, Amazon does not, but that's a different problem... ;)

With or without all of the kexts? Any guesses why?

w/ the kexts. I have not tried w/o, nor care to (if it ain't broke, don't fix it).
