I have a Dell XPS 8300 that uses a Broadcom BCM57788 ethernet chip. While it's working (more or less) using the BCM5722D kext, there are still performance issues.
Specifically, ethernet connectivity will drop out or stall periodically, especially on large file transfers.
Streaming video via a wired gigabit connection to an Apple TV 2 does not work. I have verified that the exact same video files will stream with no problems from a PowerMac G5, also connected via wired gigabit and running the same level of iTunes, so the problem isn't the material. It's clearly a connectivity problem.
Can someone more experienced with kexts look into either reengineering the existing kext to work with the new chip, finding a different kext that's suited to the chip or writing one tailored to the chip? Any help appreciated and I'll gladly supply whatever information / logs / dumps etc. I can to help.
