The Build
The purpose of this machine is to build confidence in making a Hackintosh without having to invest a lot of money into it. Now that it is functioning it will replace my Mac Mini as the iTunes server. It's a rather ceremonial position for a machine that I have a lot of nostalgia for. I was also surprised to find that even with the old graphics cards it was quite capable of Diablo 3 at high settings 1440P.
I picked this machine based on having almost all of the parts on hand already and only needed a few things including the motherboard, hard drive and case.
I picked the motherboard because unlike my ASUS P5N-D the ASUS P5Q-E require very little to get macOS working.
Installation
BIOS Settings
Unless advanced in the ways of the Hackintosh, I strongly suggest restoring to factory defaults before adjusting the settings to match. Then after making the changes in your BIOS settings go to the BOOT section of the BIOS and ensure the computer will boot to the desired drive.
The same BIOS settings dbestal used in his build for El Capitan.

1. On my iMac I created a Sierra boot disk following the guide steps 1 and 2.
2. DSDT fix mask tick all aug[-v -Dart=0 kext-devmode=1 ]/Kernel support CPU
3. Disk utilities and format hard drive with partition GUID install 17Min
4. Reboot with USB and select the installed Sierra Partition
5. boot again to USB installer and select the partition Sierra install Multibeast 8.1 (legacy)
6. use clover configurator and tick ACPI except Fix LAN for Ethernet build
7. Reboot. removed USB
8. boot up and once clover comes up go to options -> graphics injectors and select injectNvidia
9. return to the root of clover and boot from Sierra Partition
10. downloaded IONetworkingFamily.kext and Marvell88E8056.kext from transfers to my computer with a thumbstick.http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...2-no-sound-el-captain-p5q-e-mother-board.html
11. installed the above kext files using wizard
12. reboot and plugged in my headphones
(NOTE: I have no WIFI on my machine currently so I used a direct Ethernet connection at this point.)
13. Signed into my Apple account, went into the App Store and updated Sierra to latest version and rebooted when prompted.
Once the machine booted back up everything was working.
Many thanks to dbestal and his thread which I followed heavily. This result would not have been possible without building upon his work.
Benchmarks
I successfully installed macOS 10.12.4 via the App Store to this machine. I have updated the first screen shot in this post to reflect this change.
Update 2
I installed a USB3 to USB2 adapter to connect the cable for the case USB3 ports to connect to a internal port on the P5Q-E motherboard.
This is what the adapter looks like.
Here it is installed in the machine. It's very difficult to actually see it though. If you look directly under the Ge in GeForce you'll see a blue internal USB2.0 connector that supports two USB 2.0 ports and in it the little bit of the cable that is coming out from the opening in the sleeve hiding the power supply and cables.
