I think these can make a good 4k video editing machine for under $850

You can find an HP 8300 SFF with i7 CPU for about $200 on ebay.
Add this GTX 1050 graphics card for $150
32gb of DDR3 12800 ram for $250

SSD - 256gb Crucial MX300 - $75
3tb Hard-drive ( storage ) $75
Apple Broadcom PCie Wifi-ac card $60

Audio - Behringer UCA202

Total = $850

If you can edit 4K video on a 12" Macbook or Macbook Pro then you can edit 4K video on a Quad core i7
It is when you try to apply filters that your video editing begins to struggle.

These HP 8300 are very easy to setup and perform great. Very stable and use very little energy.
The Better than a Mac mini.
Bad advice, the entire GTX 10*0 graphics series is currently unsupported in OS X/macOS.

Here's a very nice deal on the HP Elite 6300 with an I5-3470. Only $105 shipped. They are required to charge you the sales tax rate of the state that it is purchased from as well. Would only amount to about 6 dollars where I live.

They are about 70% sold as of today. These do not include an HDD (3.5") but you would likely swap it out for an SSD anyway.

Note that this is a US seller so shipping overseas would not be free.

UPDATE 3-26-17

Arrow direct is having a 46% off sale at Newegg on the HP Core I5 8300 SFF Desktops

https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=-1&IsNodeId=1&Description=HP 8300 Elite Intel i5 Quad Core&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=36

Just make sure not to buy the USFF version as you won't be able to install a discrete graphics card into it. This is required to run macOS on these, not needed for Windows though. Below is an example of one they have the wrong pic of the case showing.

Just to say
I brought mine i7 3770s 8300 SFF with EliteDisplay 23", keyboard and mouse for 260 Euro

4-19-17 Update

A Pro Refurbisher
on Amazon has this model with the I5-3470 for $210 USD currently. What you get above and beyond the 8300 in post #1 is 8GB of ram instead of 4 and a 500 GB HDD instead of 160 GB. Is also warrantied 90 days by the seller.

Remember that this will need at least a low profile GT710 or other low profile, Sierra compatible graphics card to work. The new Pascal based GTX 1050 Ti (low profile) will now work with this system after installing Nvidia web drivers on Sierra 10.12.4 or later.

These cases are not designed for high airflow (for heavy use gaming) so just keep that in mind if you get a 1050 Ti.

The MSI GTX 1050 LP is now available on Newegg for about $110 after rebate. So with 8 GB of ram and an I5 in an 8300 SFF you can get a capable 1080p gaming rig that dual boots with Sierra for under $300. Thanks to Nvidia for releasing those Pascal drivers !!!

Rebate good through 4/30/17 This makes an Elite 8300 SFF into a much more powerful machine that can do some decent Windows gaming. Just remember that the cooling in these SFF cases is not great. Don't push one too hard.

Here's a current sale on one of these 8300 SFFs on Newegg: A real console killer ;) that can also run macOS Sierra.

Just $199.99 and free shipping. Likely no sales tax depending on where you live in the USA.

Has the I5-3570 @ 3.4 GHz and a 500 GB HDD + Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. Add in a GTX 1050 Ti LP card and you can game on this quite easily. Most any of the latest AAA titles at 1080p.

Just make sure to a add another 4 GB of ram if you plan on gaming with this. Match the existing 4GB DIMM with either a Crucial one that has the same specs or HP branded ram rated at 1600 MHz DDR3.

ASUS GeForce GT 710 2GB

If you go with the SFF version of the 8300 here's a low cost low profile graphics card that works with Sierra. Has no fan so is completely silent.

Selling for $36.98 AR shipped, from Newegg.com. You can get up to 2560 X 1600 resolution via the digital outputs.
Hardly uses any power so it won't tax the PSU (240W) Great if you have a CPU with HD2500 which is not supported.
Has 2GB of Vram so can handle retina quality dual monitors quite easily. Not a great gaming card though.

Rebate offer is good through 5-31-17

I'm jumping on the HP 6300 i5 bandwagon. Got one of the $100 ones you posted. Thanks!

I ordered this GT 710 off of amazon. Do you know if this will be plug and play with Sierra? It says max resolution of 4096x2160 (Is this right?).

I can't wait for a fresh hackintosh...I never could get my old one upgraded past Yosemite!
