It seems to be the clear consensus that getting HD3000 to work in Snow Leopard is some 'holy grail' of impossibility. I just cannot understand why--- I have read in numerous threads in a variety of forums (this one, insanely etc...) that Intel HD3000 graphics are 'not supported' in 10.6.8 --- the problem with that statement is that it is not true-- the Macbook Pro 8.1 has an Intel HD3000 GPU and has accelerated graphics when running Snow Leopard.
It is relatively easy when using clover to get full resolution with no QE/CL by injecting a totally false device ID
If you inject a 'working one' (e.g 01268086 or 01168086) you get distortion on the monitor and the desktop never boots; giving you an 'snb buffer failed to show up' error
When using a newer version of Chimera (the one I use to boot Yosemite on this same machine) I get past that error but end up with a black screen if I boot verbose and a grey screen if I boot 'normally'
I feel like I have done so much DSDT patching to no effect
I have researched into doing some hex editing about the connectors present in the intelsnbframebuffer kext but the majority of these guides are about enabling a VGA connector --- I have not seen a guide that talks about eliminating the LVDS connector as the primary connection -- and again, in general people are talking about editing the kexts from Lion--
Which brings me to the issue of LVDS --- the motherboard I am using has an LVDS connector -- So my next attempt to get this working is to connect a flat panel display with the same resolution as the Macbook Pro I use---
any other advice or a truly clear reason and explanation why HD3000 doesn't work with Snow Leopard --- please spare me the - 'it's not supported' because it is (I have an HD3000 Macbook Pro running 10.6.8)
