[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch (10.11)

Status

Hi

I've installed a new 2TB HDD, and wanted to reinstall El Capitan (to restore apps and docs from backup). Followed every single step (hopefully) as described in this guide.

Now I'm facing two issues:
1. No sound (tried all described solutions).
2. Keyboard freezes at random times while on desktop (solution is to restart), and strangely sometimes keeps repeat entering some characters at login page (for the password) and I cannot do anything but restart (sometimes I've to restart 2x).

Attached all required files.

Thanks.

I'm just curious whether this method will also work on MacOs Sierra?

Yes. But certain problems with certain hardware still exist and are unsolved on Sierra.
Your profile has no hardware details, so no idea if those problems would apply to your hardware.

The ioreg is corrupt.
Read post #1, "Problem Reporting".

Carefully.

My apology

Somehow, I used the wrong version of IORegistryExplorer!
Now I double checked that it is 2.1, and I opened the file after exporting.

Updated file attached.

Updated file attached.

drivers64UEFI is not per guide. This guide uses OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi not OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi. Also you have many other unneeded *.efi files.

Same comment regarding Clover/kexts. Only essential kexts should be there.

You should also:
- create custom SMBIOS in your config.plist
- check BIOS version is up-to-date
- if you used pre-patch_hda.sh, make sure your config.plist was correct when you used it (if it was not correct, your AppleHDA is irreparably damaged, and you must restore it with the OS X installer)
- if you didn't use pre-patch_hda.sh, use it (make sure your config.plist is correct before running it)

All files checked. I tried my best to find out what should be there!

Done. Any idea if this information would affect upgrading to MacOS Seirra, I mean is there a minimum Mac model?!

- check BIOS version is up-to-date

I need to search for more info to get this done using my Mac. No Windows at hand I'm afraid, but I found this:
http://theendoftheuniver.se/ramblin...-flashing-the-bios-on-an-hp-n40l-microserver/
I'm not sure if it will do me any good!

I believe this is the latest BIOS version for ProBook 4540s (I need to update to check if I can get 1080HD in Clover Boot Screen):
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/...id=5229456&swItemId=ob_177208_1&swEnvOid=4059

"pre-patch_hda.sh" saved my day

Now the system looks more stable, apart from this one rare issue:
* Random keyboard freeze while on Desktop (faced it once so far)!

Thanks a lot RehabMan, appreciate all the support you give to the community

You will need a Windows PC in order to create a USB BIOS updater.

Hi,

Installed Sierra 10.12.3

Error message when trying to access the App Store.
A serial nr was added in the config.plst following the guide in post #1.
