Hi All!

A million thanks to you WildWillow for this golden build and thread and everyone else that have kept it alive!

I just updated to Sierra. Everything works fine except hdmi audio, iCloud and sleep. Sleep is of biggest concern at the moment.

I click sleep and the screen(s) turn off but then nothing happens it just keeps sounding like its on. After sleep can't wake it up i have to reboot it with the power button.

I wonder if any of you could help me/link me to get my problems sorted.

EDIT: everything worked fine before the update when i ran Mavericks. System definition: imac14,2

Million thanks again

Hi jothu010,
I'm pretty sure we'll be able to get your system configured correctly. Have you migrated from Chimera to Clover too? if so good job. Sleep will most probably work better once we fix up everything else. My opinion is a fully functional system works properly.

Ok to start, fix HDMI audio by running the cloverHDMI-120.command(credit toleda) from post#1 here Audio - HDMI Audio AppleHDA [Guide] double click on the script and answer y/n questions. If you have any trouble see the Problem Reporting section at the bottom of post#1 and reply to the linked thread.

For iCloud to work correctly ethernet has to be set to en0 and Wi-Fi (if you have it) to en1. Example:
Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 08.36.02.png

If ethernet is set to en1, go System Preferences/Network and delete ethernet and Wi-Fi from the list on the left panel using the (-) key at the bottom of the window. Restart and connect ethernet then Wi-Fi. Check to see if ethernet is now en0. If it is sign into iCloud.

Fix USB in Sierra by installing 7/8/9 Series USB Support from MultiBeast - Sierra 9.0.1

Have you created a power management SSDT for your i5-4670K - if not see Mavericks: Native CPU/IGPU Power Management

What have you got connected to your system? Monitors? are you using HD4600 too? Peripherals?

Hi wildwillow!
Thanks a bunch for the quick and elaborate answer!
And as i said before; I love this thread! I've been hacking since 2013 and I've just been reading my way towards a clean and working install.

Glad you have faith in my build! :D

I decided to do a fresh install of Sierra. And yes i had never used clover before, I think i've got the hang of it by now. Thanks anyway! :) For me its much harder to know what to edit in config.plist file than it was in chimera.Boot.plist though. But I'm learning.

I did run toledas cloverHDMI-120.command, maybe i just did't know what i was supposed to answer y/n to.
Now with being new to clover, all i do is based off my intuition rather than based on fact. Maybe/clearly thats the wrong approach, I just thought it would be similar enough to chimera.

Thanks for the iCloud advice. I'll come back with the results!

I just installed series 7/8/9 USB support. (y)

I'll have a look in to creating that SSDT!

Anyhow.
Im using 2 monitors, using both HD4600 and discrete graphics, should i not? I feel like its running fine! Haven't done any bench testing with my Sierra install yet.
Im using TP-Link PCIe N750 as i type this
I've got a Firewire PCI card thats been working out the box.
I've got an apple keyboard with numpad.
I've got a logitech mouse

Btw: I've got a 2TB SATA hard drive with an old windows partition, that I'm not using, you don't think that is causing any problems?

Thanks a bunch! And i'll come back with the results!

HDMI Audio now working on both HD 4600 and GTX 760! I was just too impatient with installing stuff :/

Ethernet and wifi was already configured correctly!
Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 13.04.34.png

I was seeing some spamming in my console window that had to do with a WiFiVelocity deamon and agent, I removed these and the spamming stopped. Although I was experiencing issues with iCloud prior to removing those files you understand my concern that it could have to do with iCloud not working anyway. Any ideas?

It'll take a while for me to wrap my head around the power management guide, I'll come back with the results.
I reckon this is why I'm having sleep issues.

You have restored my faith in my build!

EDIT: It seems I solved my iCloud problem by just deleting anything related to my hack in iCloud.com plus logging in and out on my computer. Now there's only sleep to take care of and maybe iMessage.. ;)

Sincerely Jothu010

Great, the script works brilliantly. Glad it is working for you now.

You will be fine using both your discreet graphics and HD4600, both are supported natively. I had my system configured this way for most of the time. Currently set up and running a single 1080p Samsung. Now it is waiting for a 27" 4K monitor to enter the country that will be used on its own. I have one already on my Skylake build, super experience.

This shouldn't cause you any trouble at all. I have a similar drive set up myself. Today I upgraded my test drive to macOS Sierra 10.12.4 (public beta) and I can confirm sleep is still working well on this system. Went into the city, returned to wake it perfectly.

You have restored my faith in my build!
I hope so, if your system slept with current hardware in Mavericks it should be able to sleep in Sierra. It'll be a matter of configuring Clover with the necessary treats such as ssdt's. I have no experience with your Wi-Fi card or Firewire card, but lets get the power management set correctly. If you read the guide a few times it is very straight forward. Pikes script does the leg work for you.

Now there's only sleep to take care of and maybe iMessage.. ;)
Did you have iMessage and FaceTime working in Mavericks?? Before trying anything I'm wondering if you've kept your Serial Number and variables to enable iMessage from Mavericks?

Hi Willow!

Brilliant script!

That monitor sounds amazing!

Comforting to hear that the windows partition isn't to be concerned of.

My system is sleeping fine now! :)
I followed the guide and it didn't work at first. I was close to doing another install and start fresh (again).. But then I read through the recommended BIOS settings for Sierra and disabled IO SerialPort A then everything works fine. Except that I've set X.M.P. to Profile1 but my RAM is still showing 1333MHz. Any thoughts?

Here's some benchtesting:

CPU idling: CPU under cinebench:

Note: Is it weird that its constantly around 3GHz, even when idling?

Cinebench also picks up on my GTX760, which it didn't before when I had sleep issues.

Do you think setting IGFX/PCIe as initial display will do something in terms of stabilising my system? I have my large 16:9 display plugged in to my discrete graphics and my smaller 4:3 to my onboard graphics. No matter how I plug them in/how I configure my initial display it always recognises my large monitor as the primary monitor in system preferences. Maybe its just me being stupid/worrying too much but it seems quite strange. I would think that the best is that I plug my large monitor into the port that has been set to initial display.

iCloud:
Unfortunately iCloud never worked with my previous install of mavericks. My old Mavericks install's S/N was a copy of a preexisting one.
My first install of Sierra, that failed miserably, actually worked with messages right from the start. Sadly, I erased that drive.. I have two ghosting iMacs from my previous installations in my iCloud account that I can't get rid of.

Thank you so much for your support. It helps so much to have someone to rely on if things go south.
I noticed that having you telling me what to do helped a great deal rather than me basing my decisions of my intuition.

A million thanks! // Jothu010

Open your config.plist with xCode or a plist editor of your choice. Under Boot add XMPDetection and set it to 1 as seen in the screen shot. This will show your correct ram frequency in About This Mac.

Apparently this is something to do with Intel Power Gadget, I spent some time this morning trying to figure it out why my idle speed was running at 3.5GHz. Hopefully I will have a more accurate answer, if you remove the SSDT the idle frequency returns in IPG to 800MHz. Sleep still works too.

It is possible to change which display is used as primary.
In System preferences > Displays > Arrangements and drag the top blue bar over to make it primary:

Hi!

Thanks for the advise!
RAM showing up correctly now.
Screen Shot 2017-03-07 at 14.42.42.png
And the cpu is now idling @ lower Hz but still fluctuating a lot!

I had "trouble" with clover not recognising my 1920x1080 GUI argument. It was kind of disturbing to have a low res stretched out boot screen. Kind of a first world problem but I fixed it some how. I followed a guide on youtube but when I rebooted and my primary display went crazy glitchy on me. Then I removed the driver I had installed with clover configurator and reebooted and i suddenly had a full HD boot screen. (win)

I also had trouble with shutdown. When I pressed shut down the computer would just restart. I fixed this by disabling wake on LAN in my BIOS.

One problem I've had tho is that if I have headphones plugged in when the computer goes to sleep and I wake it up an yank out the headphones it won't recognise it and remain outputting to the headphone jack. But then I just put it to sleep briefly and it recognises the internal speakers. I had the exact same problem with my mavericks build and it hasn't bothered me that much. But a fully functioning system would be nice. Any thoughts.

Another thing of concern is that I've got a lot of entries in the console log and they're appearing at great speed even when idling. Everything is stabile and all but it just seems odd because my other Macs (that I haven't built) is not showing this behaviour at all. This is when idling (10 seconds between screen shots):
Screen Shot 2017-03-07 at 14.28.12 (2).png Screen Shot 2017-03-07 at 14.28.22 (2).png

I've ran my system for quite some time now.

I do a lot of video editing so I've pushed my machine a fair bit. The integrated graphics works great! Especially with cuda!
Ive installed iStat menus and I'm monitoring the performance and work load of different tasks such as working in After Effects with 3d and multi layer composites, colour grading in Davinci resolve and rendering in cinema 4d. With the GTX 760 being what it is (I'm certainly pushing it to its limits) I would say that, beside from the stuff I've mentioned above, the build seems to be really stabile!

Just out of curiosity: Do you have any experience with dual graphics cards, that is SLI for Nvidia cards, and if it could work with hackintosh?

Many thanks for being there for me Willow!

Best regards//Jothu

You'd probably get a better answer posting this question in the Audio Forum. Does audio work when you select another output after yanking out your headphones? I'm using optical out and only have BT headphones

I've not checked the logs since the new console is something I've not looked at much, good thing is that the logs are not not causing trouble for you system performance.

I use this system for PS and FCPX and I can't complain about the performance. It is certainly stable. You can install your SSDT for power management since this will make your system perform at its best. It is inf act Intel Power gadget that is is reporting the incorrect frequencies with Haswell CPU's.

Just out of curiosity: Do you have any experience with dual graphics cards, that is SLI for Nvidia cards, and if it could work with hackintosh?
SLI isn't part of the the OS X/macOS ecosystem but dual cards do perform better in Mac from what I've read. I have no experience with this so If you choose to take this route I'd like to hear it.

Many thanks for being there for me Willow!
You're welcome jothu010.
